*Position : Systems admin* *Length: 6 months* *Rate: $40/hr* *Location: ALBANY, NY* This job is located in Albany, New York and requires oncall, evening and weekend work hours, and occasional travel to other company offices located through out New York. Proven ability to work independently and to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems, as well as, strong project management skills and strong interpersonal skills are required. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface at all personnel levels, both written and verbal are required. Applicant must be a self-starter. Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to choose priorities required. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: Assist in implementation and/or conversion projects. Interface with customers for scheduling maintenance of environments. Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Has experience with and knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within Microsoft Windows and VMware virtual environments. Install, maintain and troubleshoot server hardware. Technical skills in the following are required: HP ProLiant Server Platforms Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Microsoft Windows 2008 Server VMware VI3 VMware ESX 3.5 Microsoft Active Directory Technical skills in the following are desired: HP SIM or ICE Symantec Endpoint Protection Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition VBScript Windows PowerShell • Problem solving, analysis, research, and testing functions for systems and networks • Implements, monitors, and operates systems and networks • Recommends and performs system and network upgrades • Manages relationships (business, IT, vendors) • Manages vendor provided services • Supports business and systems relocations and disaster recovery testing/execution • Plans and implements system and network configurations to meet business requirements • Provides capacity planning and preventative maintenance for infrastructure services • Provides outage and incident recovery services • Serves as the technical escalation for operations issues and requirements for engineering review of production networks or systems • Utilizes business requirements, architectural strategies, and support requirements to design highly available networks or systems • Develops, recommends, and oversees support standards • Designs technical solutions to integrate technologies • Participates in projects as subject matter expert for infrastructure technologies • Incorporates business continuity and disaster recovery requirements into daily operations and engineering design *Qualification* *Rating* *General Business Skills* *BA/BS Degree or Equivalent Experience* Yes *IT* *Network Architecture* 3 (Moderately Strong) of 5 (Expert) and 4+ Yrs.
