Job Purpose
Analyze, design and build reporting solutions around a variety of web-related
performance and visitor
behavior in the eCommerce Reporting Datamart (called the eDatamart). This
individual will serve as one of the ETL developers on our eCommerce reporting
team working the back-end (architecture, ETL dev and operations). The candidate
filling this role must be well-rounded in skills related to data warehousing
throughout the project life-cycle from analysis through report development and
operations.
The eCommerce reporting team consists of data warehousing specialists including
ETL developers, analyst/reporting developers and operations. The team reports
on all external customer-facing websites by owning and running a large in-house
data mart (up to billions of rows per table) that tracks various clickstream,
order and subscriber metrics for the eCommerce channel; in addition to other
tools.
This role will design solutions to solve complex integrated reporting
requirements for various reporting releases. This will be accomplished by
reviewing specification requirements with project members, provide ETL
development and testing for implementing new requirements, provide necessary
documentation and transfer knowledge to operations developer to sustain the new
job(s). All members of the back-end of the team cover operations on an as
needed basis. You may also be asked to work on special ad hoc queries related
to a given project. The position requires experience with OLTP, data modeling
(3rd normal and relational), aggregations and slowly changing dimensions.
The position would be best suited to an individual that has a passion for data
and analytics. This is a highly technical role requiring critical thinking,
logic, organization, self-motivation and attention to detail from analysis
through implementation and post-production QA. During the project work-cycle
the developer will interface with the source systems' technical teams, business
teams, reporting analyst and others. Therefore the ability to communicate with
a variety of users, from directors to end-users, and perform well under tight
deadlines in a fast-paced production environment is critical to success in this
position.

Education
B.S. in a related field (Computer Sciences or Computer Engineering preferred)
or equivalent experience required.
Experience
5+ years in database and application design and development
4+ years in data warehouse design and development
3+ years in maintaining a production data warehouse
Minimum 3 years experience in eCommerce reporting/analytics
1+ years leading date warehouse developers
Skills and Abilities
Languages: SQL, PL/SQL, Perl
O/S: Solaris, Linux, Windows
Database: Oracle 9i, Ansi SQL 92
Design Tools: CASE tools esp. Oracle Designer or Erwin
Other:
- Shell scripting (Korn shell, ksh scripting)
- Experience in web technologies such as HTTP, web architecture
(multi-tiered), HTML, Java, JavaScript.
