As part a combined Data Center Move of Development and Production, auditing
of server installation to insure correct installation will be performed.
Working with multiple Teams and Groups to ensure Owner & Group Privileges of
Data is correctly configured during the installation of the Production &
Development Data centers. Worker will insure that all NAS locations are
mounted correctly to systems and not-allowed to unauthorized systems.
Working with teams to insure sudo access is granted to systems. Testing for
Security violations across Solaris Systems, NAS Mounts, and File Transfers
will be performed. Identifying potential bottlenecks and Infrastructure
related problems of the new Data Center.
Additional duties include working with Teams to insure that their Solaris
Environments are configured and tuned to allow for optimal performance to
include container configurations, projects configuration, startup and
shutdown scripts, kernel and network parameter settings. Assisting with DNS
and working with vendors for SAN attached storage requests.
Schedule planned outages between application, tools and development teams
for hardware or software maintenance. Attend regular scheduled planning
and change approval meetings. Monitor, analyze and troubleshoot computer
servers to minimize system downtime to ensure ability to provide direct
client services. Performs complex analysis to diagnose system problems,
trends, determine necessary corrective action.
Install and configure server hardware, peripheral and computer OS/software
and work with various vendors’ to install proof of concept software tools.
WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
A Senior Solaris Systems Administrator with five or more years experience
with Sun Solaris Systems. Worker needs experience in creating and
troubleshooting complex Boerne and K-Shell scripts, Perl a plus. Worker
needs hands on experiences with open source systems monitoring tools such as
Hobbit, xymon, Big Brother, or Nagios and adding additional monitoring
scripts through scripting. Experience with Solaris O/S patching and
Firmware patches and establishing methodologies for patch rollouts. Also,
experience with additional Solaris implementation of Zones, LDOMS, ZFS
filesystems, storage pools, snaps, clones, and containers and experience
with Symantec Storage Foundation Suite, Solaris Disk Suite, Volume Manager,
and Veritas Clusters.
Additional Experience with the following commercial monitoring packages is a
plus: I3, Wily, ITCAM. Experience with setting up Secure File Transfer
Methods for data transfers using SSL-FTP or SFTP. Experience
troubleshooting Network related issues and the administrator needs to have a
solid understanding of vlans, routers, switches, firewalls, and access
control lists.
Strong Troubleshooting and Problem Identification Skills are needed to
assist teams with problem resolution. Must possess the ability of working
with multiple Teams in a large scale environment
