Title : Sr. Oracle DBA Location : New York City Duration : 3+ Months Contract BASIC FUNCTION Under general direction of Director and technical leadership of other experienced team members to perform database administration and development support tasks including: database installation, configuration, logical and physical database design, database backup/restores, data refreshes, replication, performance tuning, code deployments. Work with leads to participate in design discussions, implementations and work with the project team on all support activities. Maintain and improve the performance of enterprise databases in both the transactional and inquiry only environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Install, maintain and troubleshoot relational databases and data replication processes. 2. Interact with end users, developers, project managers and architects to troubleshoot reported problems or to perform required database maintenance activities. 3. Implement and maintain security administration for database environment. 4. Perform database object administration, change control and space management in the database environment. 5. Implement database backup and recovery processes. 6. Perform database consistency checking, loading and unloading of data. 7. Oversee and perform database installation and configuration of database parameters including transaction logging, shared memory, etc. 8. Perform DBMS upgrades/patching. 9. Establish access permissions for the database environment based on standards and guidelines. 10. Develop and maintain a comprehensive database software inventory/library for all related support documentation and procedures. 11. Conduct software audits of the database products for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures. 12. Monitor and administer database performance, including storage, applications and network activity. 13. Develop documentation including operations manuals, procedures and problem resolution. 14. Escalate problems to senior technical team members and/or vendors in a timely fashion. 15. Develop techniques and implement resolution of problems based on root cause analysis. 16. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS 1. Must have RMAN and OLTP experience 2. Possess excellent analytical and decision making skills. 3. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. 4. Possess outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills. 5. Flexible working hours and be able to support late night deployments. 6. RAC, DataGuard and SQL Server Admin experience preferred but not essential.
