Job Description:

Web and Application Development Projects include:

1. Convert 4 interactive multimedia exhibits created for the Second Avenue
Subway Community Information Center for availability to a broader audience
on the web. Content includes videos, images, maps, diagrams and text.

2. Upgrade existing internal Content Management System software to a newer
version and get off Windows Server 2003 as soon as possible (priority
project requested by IT). This will include setting up a test environment,
applying and testing the software upgrade, and implementing the production
migration including coordination with multiple parties.

3. Develop a secure document workflow application to collect, review and
transmit sensitive documents (personal Identification documents) between
authorized employees to support site tours. The system must work with
agency Police Department to support processing tour requests and vet tour
participants for security purposes.

Maintaining Capital Program web pages:

• Upload and post documents, images & diagrams for the megaprojects for
stakeholder communications on a regular basis

• Refresh construction images and videos periodically on the Capital Pages

• Develop a Content Management System for the capital program web pages on
the website so users can post documents & images themselves

• Consolidate headers and menu code across many files into a single header
file to enable ease of maintenance

• Support and implement HQ requests for code updates, page updates, and
advisory message postings in header of Capital Program pages



Required Skills:

Candidates must possess a 4-6 years of work experience in web development
as follows:

Essential:

• Strong up-to-date knowledge of web design and web standards, particularly
with respect to code reuse and concepts of full separation of content from
presentation using CSS/text-based table-less layouts, section 508 web
accessibility guidelines, and cross-browser compatibility techniques

• Good grasp of responsive design and adaptive themes vs. device-dependent
design

• Ability to quickly code usable web pages in semantic HTML/CSS from
designs supplied as print or PDF layouts

• Ability to build secure, accessible web applications, with an emphasis on
sound software development practices

• Familiarity with front-end web performance optimization techniques and
tools

• HTML5

• CSS3

• HTTP

• SMTP

• XML

• OOP PHP

• Object Oriented Methodologies

• Multi browser compatibility

• Unix or Linux
