The main responsibilities include design, coding, unit testing and coding up with technical solutions for complex problems. - Develops and implements complex internet and intranet applications on one or more platforms. - Uses knowledge of web technologies, including C++, Java, Java Script, HTML, CGI, XML, Perl, ASP, multimedia applications, database modeling tools and/or database interactions. - Evaluates systems specifications for client area web site requirements and determines and implements the most efficient and cost-effective software/package solution. - Researches and tracks new web technologies, develops service applications, and analyzes business requirements as they pertain to web-based systems. - Responsible for system quality assurance and consistency with installation and security policy and standards. - May provide direction and guidance to less experienced staff. Skill Requirements: - 10 or more years technical background - 6+ years directly related web engineering experience - Experience as a mentor in J2EE coding, Java Performance Tuning and Application Troubleshooting - Solid Weblogic 10 experience - Experience with IBM MQ/JMS, Solaris, Networking, Webserver SunOne, F5 loadbalancer and Introscope - Pluses: Clearcase, Oracle Database, Maven2, Akamai Candidates need to be able to: - Consults on tactical topics such as system interfaces, integration of e-commerce with core business systems, systems availability and response targets, customer service and support. - Defines and resolves problems related to widely different platforms, hardware, software, coding structures, communication protocols. - Works with vendors and common carriers to resolve Web-related issues. - Resolves connectivity issues and workflow problems. - Recommends scalable, advanced technologies and methods to integrate Web systems with existing systems, enabling the creation of new Web enterprises or expanding existing business onto the Web. - Consults with staff responsible for determining hardware requirements and communication bandwidth to support projected transaction volumes and response time and system availability targets. - Keeps abreast of new technological developments. - Conducts evaluations of new products and vendor proposals.
