Expected Rate: Position Title(s): Web Support Engineer(JAVA) with Unix Location : Madison , WI (Prefer Local to WI) Duration: Long Term (1 year ) Acceptable Interview Type(s): Phone screen, then On-Site Number of Available Positions: 1 Key Technical Skills / Competencies: Successful candidates should have the following knowledge, skills and experience: · Very strong Unix/Linux background · Supporting applications and/or application servers *Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline preferred, but not required. *A strong general knowledge of Internet/Web technologies (HTTP, J2EE, CGI, HTML, and networking) preferred. *2 or more years experience supporting Internet-related technologies preferred. *Experience with Unix (Solaris and/or AIX), DBMS (Oracle and/or UDB), SQL, and Shell scripting required. *Advanced knowledge of web servers (Apache, Domino) and application servers (Tomcat, Websphere, ServletExec) preferred. * Some experience with IBM MQ Series, eGate, Alfresco, Terracotta, Version control (CMSynergy, CVS, Subversion), problem tracking software (Assyst) and programming languages (Java, Perl, C, and JavaScript) preferred. * Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills are required. * An ability to effectively interface with a wide variety of people including: DBAs; Unix system administrators; security and networking teams; programmers; and business merchants, creative, and call center staff. Note : Unix and Linux experience is very useful, important -- and I would eliminate any candidate without it -- but it is not the only criteria. help me by highlighting candidates with broader Internet technology experience? I am looking for more than simply putting HTTP, Apache, and Tomcat in the list of technologies they are familiar with, but nothing to back it up in the text of the position description. · Very strong Unix/Linux background · Supporting applications and/or application servers As a Unix Web Support Engineer, you would be part of a team responsible for the daily operation of e-commerce web sites and associated applications and processes. You would also be part of project teams delivering functionality based on business requirements. You would be expected to troubleshoot customer and business client issues on a daily basis while monitoring web site performance and availability to assure Service Level Agreements are met. Web Support Engineers are responsible for deployment of new code to production. You would participate in planning and implementation of changes and upgrades to system applications, infrastructure, and processes. As a member of project teams, you would be expected to define and review functional and non-functional requirements, deliver system impact analysis, and develop implementation plans.
