DESCRIPTION: The database administrator (DBA) is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database. Additional role requirements are likely to include planning, development and troubleshooting. The DBA will use knowledge of database management products and services to support the IT infrastructure. This role requires theDBA to monitor and support midrange database operations, and provide database administration tasks to ensure timely delivery of quality IT Products and Services. A thorough knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies as well as practices is essential. On call and weekend work is expected. RESPONSIBILITIES * Responsible for implementation and release of database changes. * Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades. * Monitor database activity, performance, and capacityInstall and patch database engine software * Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime. * Perform and monitor database backups for successful completion * Perform database performance tuning (indexing and optimizer strategies, stored procedures/triggers, partitioning, commit levels, rollbacks, journaling, locking schemes, temporary spaces/sort areas, and memory management) * Respond to problems quickly and document corrective action * Responsible for problem escalation to third parties as appropriate for support. * Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the systems. * Perform analysis and troubleshooting of queries; provide performance improvement recommendations and implementations. * Responsible for ensuring that the associated hardware resources are efficiently allocated to the databases, to ensure high availability and optimum performance. * Responsibly for providing and reviewing trend analysis and make informed decisions regarding resource management. * Provides leadership support to Analysts and Specialists in the implementation of Databases and associated hardware and applications. QUALIFICATIONS: * 2 years prior Database Administration required. * Any combination of Oracle, versions 8 * 11 and at least one of the following: * MS SQL Server * Sybase * Informix * 2 years prior application development a plus. * Experience in multi-tier architecture environment required * High-level skills in database development/management software and general computer programming and demonstrated experience in database analysis, scoping, data and process mapping;. * 5+ years work experience with database development and administration * Fundamental understanding of computer networking technologies (protocols, physical connectivity, etc). * Ability to handle multiple tasks. * Ability to work with minimal supervision. * Excellent communications skills 2) Title: Oracle ERP project Manager Location: Denver, CO Duration: 6 months Rate: Open Required skills: Assesses current 11i environment, develops project plans for upgrading to R12 per Oracle's standard methods and practices. 3) Role: Project Manager - Application Maintenance & Support Location: Basking Ridge, NJ Duration: 3 months Rate: Market Open seat description: The Application Development and Maintenance Project Manager has overall performance responsibility for managing SLA commitments, scope, cost, schedule, and contractual deliverables, which includes applying techniques for planning, tracking, change control, and risk management.
