Position : Senior Java/J2EE Engineer / Architect / Consultant (E- Commerce, Supply Chain) Area: Brisbane, California Duration: Long Term General Summary: The duties of an architect include exploring new technology, working on defining and enhancing various subsystems within Client enterprise and helping define architectural roadmap of the enterprise. He/She will be responsible for leading engineering efforts from concept into implementation, working closely with business and cross functional engineering teams on formulating requirements and performing feasibility study. He/She will provide technical mentorship to other team members. The position will serve as the technical lead for the distributed development teams working on this platform to deliver Supply Chain functionality. Some of the key areas he/she will work in and contribute will span eCommerce applications, Content Management Systems, and other eCommerce back- ends. A wide degree of creativity and efficiency is required. Comfortable in many technical environments and proposed balanced solution implementation based on business needs and technical capabilities. Responsibilities: 1. System Design and Build - 30% *Serve as a technical lead for architecture, design and implementation of various system components within Client's platform. * Provide high level design for new initiatives touching given subsystem including project sizing. * Evaluate tuning and optimization concerns of applications and systems. * Work with the team members to influence overall software strategy and direction in Backend Systems. * Assess feasibility and ramifications of new business requirements. Design appropriate solutions and recommend alternative approaches when necessary. * Explore new technology and drive innovation within the team * Lead and mentor team members. * Recommend and implement engineering best practices. * Collaborate, communicate with different teams, and triage technical issues across teams. * Extremely focused on delivering high quality, defect free solutions 2. Ongoing Support & Maintenance - 10% * Perform application tuning * Provide support in troubleshooting / investigations * Respond quickly to critical requests * Provide 24/7support, with a one-week on-call rotation every few weeks * Perform Data analysis 3. Research and innovation - 30% * Research technology trends and apply the results to solve business problems * Develop solution prototype and be able to demonstrate value proposition of the solutions to a wide audience 4. Partnership with Lines of Business - 30% * Collaborate with product and project managers as well as business to define product features, architectural deliverables and project estimates * Work closely with business partners to identify business needs and ensure that system improvements answer the needs of the business * Support Business requests for investigation and analysis Qualifications: 1) Competencies: Skills, knowledge, & abilities Functional Competencies: Required: * Subject matter expertise in building Java based High-volume/ High-transaction E-commerce applications web applications using: O Commerce Platforms (e.g. ATG, WebSphere Commerce, Blue Martini) O Integration of product catalog, Web content and pricing feeds, outbound feeds with Search and Price Comparison Engines. O SOA and ESB Technologies (e.g. Tibco Active Matrix, Websphere) O Deep knowledge of Oracle RDBMS ,excellent data modeling, debugging and tuning skills * Experience with FE technologies such as Ajax Java / JSPs, Struts, Ruby on Rails, JSF * Use of CSS, HTML, DHTML, XML, XSLT, JavaScript and Multi browser support * Comprehensive SDLC experience including: O Strong design skills - use of UML, Rational Rose, patterns, OOA/ OOD. O Agile implementation principles and practices O Use of version control management such of SVN, CVS, Clearcase, or perforce. O Testing *through* presentation tier in a portal environment with Junit or xUnit testing frameworks.
