*****Immediately Needed A Consultant***** Sr. UNIX administrator Location: Alpharetta, GA Duration: 12+Months Contract Required: Minimum 7 years Solaris and AIX experience Senior level UNIX administrator able to work on multiple operating systems. Solaris, AIX, and LINUX are current OS’s used. Responsible for installing, configuring, securing, and maintaining UNIX OSs in a large scale shop. Maintain and support various small and large scale UNIX servers in a multi OS environment. Able to work on high availability environments including Symantec's VCS and IBM's HACMP. Maintains overall security settings for all UNIX machines. This position has a key role in security administration. Able to administer virtualized environments. This includes both Solaris and AIX offerings, as well as workload management of these environments (ex. fair share scheduler in global zones). Other functions: Evaluates and / or directs the research and analysis of new / enhanced technical software and hardware (including their affect / impact on configurations, security, and the business environment). Provides technical expertise in the development, support, implementation, and maintenance of complex technical software and hardware environments. Maintains an awareness of new software and hardware technology. Monitors performance of software and hardware and recommends changes to obtain and maintain acceptable performance. Recommends changes where necessary to anticipate future performance requirements. Performs analysis and develops new technical processes and makes recommendations for the improvements of existing processes. Performs tasks necessary to comply with established technical and administrative procedures / standards. Position requires some off hours and weekend hours (for planned and unplanned support) Skills needed Experience in working with administrative and office tools Experience in the technology used to run web servers and enterprise content management services Experience in all support and maintenance tasks Experience in planning and communication Technical skills: Minimum 7 years Solaris and AIX experience High availability software (HACMP, VCS, SFRAC) Extensive knowledge of Solaris and AIX internals Virtualization skills (LPAR, Containers, LDOMs) Understanding of in depth security related items. Technical understanding of networking Experience in complex technical problem diagnosis. Exercise good judgment and act on the basis of limited but adequate data. Experience with installation, configuration, management, problem determination, and performance management of Solaris and AIX Operating Systems and closely associated products and utilities. Experience with managing and performing problem determination for UNIX hardware.
