Job Title: Software Architect – 6 months Pay $Open/hr,Location : NYC - Manager will be conducting phone screens first which will last about 1 hour and be technical in subject matter (comm skill will also be graded) - Second step would be an in-person interview that should last about half a day. The candidate will be meeting with several members of the team. *Experienced Architect wanted to participate with cross-functional team developing the architecture of a new highly complex Graphics Server system that includes significant multi-threaded client and server side charting and data management capabilities. Candidate MUST have server side market data experience as well as MS Windows in a large data center working with dev, ops and EXCELLENT comm. Skills. MS certs are helpful as well as experience with real-time data (i.e. Bloomberg, Reuters, etc). Duties Include: - Leadership responsibilities for the architecture of a Graphics Server system to enable high performance Charting capabilities for Thin and Thick clients integrated with near real-time market data feeds and enterprise content sets - Participate with team to progress the architecture for n-tiered graphics capabilities from application server layer through the presentation layer shared across rich client and thin client components. - Drive the engagement across multiple development teams within the I&A division - Drive the requirement feasibility assessment from business teams - Drive technical design and implementation. Proactively raise issues if specification will lead to quality, system performance, or architectural issues in production - Document and present to appropriate teams the logical and physical architecture required to address business requirements - Participate in technical design reviews, functional specifications reviews, and contribute to development project estimates, scheduling, and test plans Minimum Requirements: - 10 years experience of architectural design with practical experience in the following areas: § .Net Enterprise architecture § High performance, multi-threaded component layers § Commercial Charting experience of financial data § Near real-time data handling and enterprise caching architectures § Access Control- Role-based; Rule-based; Entitlement management § User directory services- Directories, Metadirectories; virtual directories § User data management – Preferences, Settings, Documents, Migration § User administration- User provisioning, Password management, Profile management, Self-service, Delegated administration § SOAP and REST interface technologies § xHTML and AJAX GUI technologies - Proven track record of delivering large complex projects in an architectural role - Excellent communication skills - Well versed and abreast with the latest technologies and data architecture concepts in the industry *Top skills:* - Commercial Charting experience of financial data - Near real-time data handling and enterprise caching architectures - Must be a team play. Contractor will be engaging multiple teams around the globe. Candidate must have experience with many servers running at the same time. This position will have around 25 but candidate should have experience with 25 to 100 running at the same time. * Servers forcast 25 to 100 servers that do a complicated amount of work. Have to have worked w/ market data and Microsoft windows servers in large facility/Oral and Written communication skills needed. Gather data in order is half the time Drawing a chart is second half Asks questions- How many drawings? Calculations? Analysis? Communication skills is where last person fell short. Certainly anyone with microsoft certifications and exp with a real time market data, reuters, bloomberg exp a plus. Base 1 hr technical phone screen deep dive into resume, testing comm skills as well 2nd phone screen and then in person w/ team. Questions and Answers with Suppliers 1) charting components being used now? We are writing our own. It is all our own code 2) On Nice to haves- Highest Priority is TIBCO 3) Silverlight experience? A nice to have at this point. 4) Main business. group in NY- what other language skills? All English but there is a global team so that’s why communication skills are key 5) Duration? Perm? Informally, a multi year role, we have budget for 2010 project. Let’s go for Sept for right now. Informally we are looking to extend 6) From percentage stand point what are the role of duties? 40 percent design, 25 percent business, 35 percent operations. 7) Life Cycle of current project? Gathering requirements, next generation platform, collecting requirements, 25% of design complete. High Design Stage right now. So they would deal with design and implementation. Development teams staffed and resourced, detail design build architecture reqs and how components connect to each other- development team agree to builds and then deal with deployment Person would be mentored by me and then take over. 8) From an architect point of view we use a TR process it fits in w/ open group of SD process Formality in our process, highly documented. 9) Current server is running on 2003 next one or the Project we’re hiring for will be running for 2008.
