*Immediate need Oracle DBA Consultant* Title : Oracle DBA Location : Des Moines, IA Duration : 18 Months Contract I need a Database Administrator that can be on-call to cover first response problem tickets for DBMS from Oracle, SQL Server, and Sybase. Looking for their strength to be in MS SQL Server or Oracle Database Administration and they need to have some experience with Sybase so they can at least look into problems. Perl scripting knowledge is important as that is our infrastructure script syntax Contractor should be someone who would be able to be a part of our on-call rotation which is 1 full week, 24 x 7 support every 12 weeks troubleshooting Oracle, MS SQL, and Sybase DBMS systems. I am ok and willing to train them on the processes but I don't want my staff to have to train them on the technical abilities of their job. Primary Skills: Troubleshooting skills and basic knowledge of Oracle / SQL / Windows /Unix . Hands on working experience and an expert for MS SQL Server 2005, and 2008 which includes SSRS, SSAS . Hands on working experience upgrading from MS SQL Server 2000 to MS SQL Server 2005 and to MS SQL Server 2008 . Hands on working experience with Windows 2003 and 2008 Server and Windows Clustering . Knowledge of database replication, log shipping, data mirroring . Knowledge and experience of converting from DTS to SSIS . Knowledge and understanding of Oracle Dataguard . Knowledge and understanding of Shareplex . Knowledge and understanding of Oracle CRS . Knowledge and experience using Sybase PowerDesigner to manage database models . Perl scripting to maintain infrastructure scripts . Ability to problem solve database issues while on-call 24x7 . Knowledge of performance data collection, performance monitoring and performance improvement. . Knowledge of backups and recovery, Security Administration, Database and Server Performance Monitoring and Tuning, and Capacity Planning. Working experience with Oracle, Sybase, and SQL Server Effective communication, independent worker, and leadership skills are key.
