* * * * * * * * *Sr Release Engineer* *Company Summary* Client Global eCommerce To leverage our scale and drive efficiencies as we pursue new e-commerce opportunities around the globe, we are creating a new business unit that will be responsible for driving online growth around the world – both in developed markets where we currently have stores and an online presence and in markets where we don’t. The objectives of this business unit will include (1) development and execution of a global strategy for e-commerce; (2) establishing of cross-functional and cross-border Walmart relationships designed to accelerate and broaden our growth in the global online channel; and (3) the creation of technology platforms and applications that can be used effectively in every client's market. *City* *BRISBANE* *State* *CA* Duration 3+ ** *Position Summary* This hands-on position, reporting to the Manager – Release, will be responsible for release of an application system component in a massively scalable, high performance, multi-tenant, international eCommerce platform in a Java EE and Oracle environment. The activities span across gate-keeping the product before it is finally rolled out to production, coordinating with the PMO team for planning and technology teams during development and thereby owning the release at all stages. *Position Description* 1. Release & Configuration Management - 80% • Lead the efforts for the design, implementation, maintenance and support of the Release program for MTEP • Ensuring a high quality eCommerce platform; develop methodologies to deliver the highest standards in Release Engineering • Understand the complexity and challenges in a multi-geography client & multi-geography vendor environment • Through the technology partners, draft Release Engineering requirements and designs; develop implementation plans; manage issues pertaining to schedule, resources and risk pertaining to Release Management • Proactively recommend and institute process, tool, and methodology improvements in Release Engineering • Track existing metrics and establish new ones to measure the quality of Wal-mart Global.com functional releases and the quality and efficiency of the technology partner’s Release team • Responsible for the build system, version control system & build tools and for defining & implementing processes for milestone software release • Implement multi-branching & merging of code bases for multi-release, Multi-location development teams • Communicate and collaborate effectively with peers, management, vendors, and interested parties to meet goals 2. Vendor Management - 15% • Work closely with the globally distributed client -Release and partner release organizations to disseminate the product specifications and help envision the product as perceived by the product management team • Working with our technology partners to define, promote, and ensure adherence to Release Engineering processes that addresses the needs of a highly dynamic global eCommerce business; work across multiple partners to establish uniform build and release practices 3.
