Position Opening - Data Analyst/Testing Analyst – Denver CO *Job Description:* Xcel Energy is replacing a sales and use tax data consolidation system with a new system using a data warehouse architecture. When complete the system will receive data from a variety of sales and purchasing systems at an individual transaction level, summarize that data, and prepare data feeds to a tax form preparation system. This system will also support audit related activities. The project has just recently entered the testing phase and Xcel Energy is looking for a Data/Test Analyst to join the project team to perform testing, document results, analyze data issues, and work with the internal customer to resolve process and data issues. This position is currently open. This project will run through December/January. *Job Responsibilities:* - Leads testing efforts. Conducts testing according to plan. Makes appropriate modification to test cases. - Ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner. - Analyzes data and ensures reports are consistent with existing systems’ reports. - Ensures all usability issues are addressed. - Ensures that the system operates in alignment with the business processes. - Works with client personnel to identify required changes. - Communicates needed changes to development team. - Assists in the facilitation of team and client meetings. - Identifies and documents system deficiencies and recommends solutions. - Reviews and edits requirements documents, specifications, - Assists internal customer with business process documentation. - Works with internal IT auditors to ensure data traceability and compliance standards are met. *Qualifications:* - Possesses understanding in the areas of database and system design, ETL processes, and Business Intelligence tools. - Experience working with accounting or finance systems required. Sales and use tax experience a definite plus. - Experience working in a large scale environment that employs technologies such as Teradata, Informatica, and Business Objects is highly desirable. - Can work independently. - Understands technical design specifications. - Hands-on familiarity with ER diagrams, SQL language, and desktop analysis tools such as Access and Excel. - Experience reading and developing functional specifications and system design specifications for client engagements. - Past database design experience is a plus. - Quickly understands the business issues and data challenges of client's organization. - Able to identify critical issues with ease.
