We have a 6 month contract in San Diego for a SAN engineer . This position is VERY likely to extend beyond the 6 months (we have contractors who have been for years). Here is what they are looking for: They have nearly 2 petabytes of storage now. This person will need to come from a large enterprise environment and get up to speed quickly. The need is because his other guys need to focus on some project work and this resource will focus on maintenance activities. Provides storage (SAN) engineering services. Examples include, but are not limited to, administration and management of Enterprise storage infrastructure, supporting mission critical Windows and Unix servers. The individual utilizes knowledge of fiber-attached subsystems and hosts to configure and provision storage to both physical and virtual servers. Additionally they will evaluate and troubleshoot storage-related issues, monitor subsystem performance and generate ad-hoc storage performance and capacity reports. As such, his/her knowledge should include commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the storage engineering field IBM Storage subsystems DS8000, DS4000 and XIV NetApp FAS .EMC Clariion & Centera Cisco 9500 & McData SAN switches Qlogic and Emulex HBA Our rate for this position is 40/hr.
