Voice / Data Network Consultant 4 month Contract *Location:* * PLYMOUTH, MN * *Required: 6+ years configuring, installing, and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches. 6+ years configuring Cisco switches with layer 2 and layer 3 VLans, trunking, and high availability options. 6+ years working with global Telco companies turning up and troubleshooting circuit installations including Private Lines, AVPN, PIP, Frame Relay, …etc. 6+ years configuring IPsec Site to Site VPN using Cisco hardware and IOS. 6+ years using BGP and OSPF routing protocols. 6+ years knowledge of Firewall operations using Cisco, CheckPoint or other firewall vendors. 4+ years VoIP experience using Cisco equipment.* *Description* *Contract Position Responsibilities: *This candidate will work with a group of 10 network engineers who design, implement, and maintain enterprise wide Internet services, Web Hosting environments, employee VPN and remote access environments, data center infrastructure, and connectivity to all third party organizations outside the UnitedHealth Group corporate environment. The engineer will interface with UnitedHealth Group businesses and external organizations to gather project requirements and implement network solutions to meet business requirements. * The engineer is responsible to: *Order network equipment and data circuits Configure and install network equipment Work with the Telco’s to test and turn up data circuits Request and validate all firewall rules with Security Operations Build site to site VPNs with external organizations Manage all hardware in functional environments related to these connectivity options. Work with internal UnitedHealth Group businesses to provide data and voice solutions. Provide network engineering support for corporate projects involving private WAN and VPN connections to third party locations. * Engineering tasks include: *Choose WAN and VPN connectivity options for third parties based on business requirement and design templates. Configure, document, and maintain Site to Site VPN connections using Cisco IOS. Understand Telco Services and submit circuit orders. Work with Telco Carriers to turn up new circuits. Order network hardware. Load IOS, configure, and install network hardware including Cisco routers and switches. Document the network design and supporting information using Visio drawings, spreadsheets, and databases. Understand firewall systems and submit firewall policy change requests as needed. Adhere to Corporate Change Control Procedures. Provide 3rd level support for installed WAN and VPN infrastructure. * Assets: *Experience working projects and tasks within a Change Management system. Experience working with content switching and load balancing. Working knowledge of QoS in a WAN/LAN environment. Working knowledge of SSL and Client VPN. Knowledge of UNIX OS and using scripting functions.
