Seeking a DBA for an innovative Enterprise Web-based solution to focus on the physical model and operation of the database management system. The candidate will work in a collaborative team environment with other software engineers and user experience professionals, conforming to various software development and business processes. The candidate must be experienced in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and database design and modeling (UML). Must also have experience with data warehousing, data mining, and reporting (i.e. the visualization/use of the data). *The Database Administrator creates and maintains the data warehouse physical data structures. * · *DBA Responsibilities include: ** *• Understand the intent of the Data Architecture and bring in the constraints of the implementation system. • Help design, plan, build and maintain the physical infrastructure for storage, ensure maximum performance and availability is achieved. • Set Policies and Guidance for how data is handled and managed across the system, including but not limited to data security, auditing, and disaster recovery. • Make recommendations with regard to data infrastructure, including but not limited to capacity planning. • Translates the logical data models into a workable physical data model and database. • Design and build the physical database structure • Define and populate the metadata tables • Populate and validate the data warehouse • Collect usage and volume statistics necessary for proper model tuning • Tune the model through the ability to create indices, aggregations, database partitioning, and other database tuning procedures • Provide the data warehouse “population routines” • Define the key structure • Implement the security structure • Analyze cost effectiveness and feasibility; • Provide work estimates, including evaluating trade-offs between implementation, schedule, cost, and resource constraints, and recommend alternatives; • Mentor and provide technical expertise to less experienced developers; • Work with remote teams, including offshore. *Deliverables: * - Physical data model - Populated metadata tables - Populated database - Security - Storage/Archiving - Physical performance monitoring and tuning - Documented and controlled extract, transform, and load processes - Backup and recovery *Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * • Solid experience and knowledge in database management systems, designing and delivering business intelligence and/or data warehousing solutions • Analysis and design skills; critical thinking; analytical problem solving • ETL • System administration and integration • Logical and physical modeling and performance monitoring/tuning skills • Prototyping capabilities • Documentation creation (standards, definitions, application, etc.) • Quality assurance • Communication and coordination • Fundamental understanding of project management *Proficient in the following technologies, tools and platforms:* • Visual Studio 2008 • Microsoft .NET 3.5 • ADO.NET • ASP.NET 2.0 • SQL Server 2008 • UML 2.0 • Visio • Windows Server 2008 *Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline. Minimum of 7 years related systems and/or software engineering experience, or skills commensurate with 7+ years systems or engineering experience. Strong skills in: leadership, information/data architecture, requirements analysis and development, object-oriented software design, and software implementation.
