Position: Senior Java Developer w/Fix/Swing
Location: NYC, NY NEED LOCALS [ Telephonic + In person ]
Duration: long term contract
Must have at least 3 - 5 years Financial background
Role Desc:
This position is for a hardcore developer to work in the global Cash Equity
middle office technology team. In general we write cross-platform Java,
C++, Perl, Python and C# (on Windows) and use a variety of other
circumstance-appropriate tools. We build heavy-weight GUIs, lightweight
GUIs, web GUIs and headless applications and servers, automation tools and
scripts and infrastructure to organize, manage and deploy our applications.
Projects you will work on include building out our global post trade middle
office infrastructure in cooperation with the middle office business and QA
teams, often in collabaration with other development teams from front
office, back office, and infrastrucure groups. You will be expected to
actively participate in application architecture planning and reviews,
software design, coding, and testing.
Required Skills:

You have had at least three to five successful years at a financial
institution or technology/software company doing similar work and have
developed areas of significant technical expertise with a proven ability to
support your products. You make good time estimates, cooperate when planning
projects that span groups, mentor junior staff and help to generally bring
up the level of play for everyone.
You have keen technical interests and top-notch software
design/architecture and implementation skills. Your appreciation for
elegance in simplicity is also welcome. You demonstrate above-average
project- and time-management skills along with good oral and written
communication skills. You are an efficient programmer and have learned to
celebrate change and streamline your deployments. You provide an excellent
level of service for your production environments.
You have experience with a variety of operating environments and
programming languages including Unix and Windows, C++, Java, C#, Perl,
Python, shells,make and friends, SQL databases, in-memory databases, multi
threading/synchronization and distributed computing. You are adept with
debugging tools and analyzing complex distributed systems. You like to
contribute to all levels of an application from front end to back end, are
generally platform agnostic and you prefer the right tool for the right job.
Challenging technical and business issues will exist and you need to own
them and resolve them. Your solutions withstand professional scrutiny and
can stand the test of time. You should also be comfortable operating in
multi-functional
teams and debating the merits of competing technology and operational
choices in a frank and open manner. You have a can-do, go-to-person persona
and an open, enthusiastic attitude and positive leadership tendencies.
Necessary Tech:
* Strong Java, multi-threading, and asynchronous messaging
* FIX experience is a very strong plus
* Databases
* Unix scripting
Desired Skills:
* Swing/SWT/GWT experience is a plus
* CTM/SWIFT experience is a plus
* C++ is a plus
* Source code control (Perforce/CVS/Subversion/Clearcase)
Education:
* Degree in Computing Sc or Engineering
