These skills are required for the Cognos resource, and apply to the job description, qualifications and experience below: *Business Intelligence Specialist (Cognos)**:* Under general supervision, works in a Data Warehouse environment which includes data analytics design, business intelligence architecture, data translation layer creation and environment administration. Provides direction and guidance to less experienced team members. Reviews data loaded into cubes for accuracy. Responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of business intelligence solutions which may include reports, dashboards, scorecards, ad hoc queries, metrics analysis and advanced analytics. Troubleshoots and tunes existing business intelligence applications. Conducts research into new business intelligence applications and determines viability for adoption. Leads the establishment of development, appearance and GUI standards. Works with business areas to understand their short and long term data analytic needs and designs solutions to meet those needs. *Required Experience**:* Bachelor's degree with 8 – 10 years related work experience or significant equivalent work experience. 8 years experience working in a medium to large-scale data warehouse and business intelligence environment. 3 years experience in a minimum of 1 CMA Standard BI Tool, to include: Ø Design and development of new, complex BI Reports/Dashboards for various business purposes. Ø Design and development of new translation layers for a minimum of 2 data sources. Strong understanding and current experience with BI processes, development and associated tools. Strong technical knowledge with an emphasis on data management. Demonstrated understanding of data architecture concepts and strategies, including types of data and the relationships between them; optimal data placement strategies; data usage guidelines; data technical components and the relationships between them. Strong understanding of networking and security requirements and issues as they relate to data movement (e.g. - database/data warehouse access, data replication, data movement, data distribution). Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with business clients. Demonstrated ability to multi-task work assignments. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Strong teamwork skills within I.S. and client community. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
