The National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) is seeking a competitive bid for a
seasoned Data Architect consultant.   This person will function as part of
the Enterprise Data Management department to implement software tools that
further the EA Integration and Information Delivery projects.  The candidate
will work with a team to design and implement various Local Transactional
Stores as well as Analytical, Mining, and Operational Reporting stores to
facilitate data integration among multiple federated systems and the
delivery of information for reporting and analytics.

A.     Project Objectives



Projects:

1.     EA Core Integration

2.     EA Information Delivery



The objective of the EA Core Integration work-stream (multiple projects) is
to build the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) components to integrate various
federated applications via XML messages using the Publish/Subscribe
mechanism on the MQ platform.



The objective of the EA Information Delivery project is to build a
foundation for the effective delivery of the information for operational,
analytical, and decision-support reporting needs.



Responsibilities for this position on this project include:

.

·       Creates and maintains conceptual, logical, and physical data models
that meet business and integration requirements for both OLTP and OLAP
environments.

·       Collaborates with Business/Systems and Data Analysts during the
analysis and design phases of the project.

·       Assists project teams in defining scope and boundaries for local
transactional datastores relative to their use of enterprise data.

·       Develops integration and information delivery process flows and data
mapping analysis.

·       Analyzes and mines business data to identify patterns and
correlations among the various data points.

·       Maps and traces data from system to system in order to solve a given
business or system problem

·       Complies with the established company-wide database standards, best
practices, and SOPs and the governing directives of the Enterprise Data
Architect.



·       May be asked to act as a Technical Lead for the Enterprise Data
Management team. Instructs, directs, and reviews the work of App DBAs, Data
Analysts, ETL and Database Developers

·       May be asked to serve as a backup for Data Analyst, App DBA, or ETL
Developer.




B.     Technical Requirements



·       Proficiency in Data Analysis and Data Modeling of OLTP *and* OLAP
systems using ER or OO techniques.

·       Proficiency in using PowerDesigner (strongly preferred) or other
modeling tools used on the project.

·       Experience in data integration and data liquidity techniques using
variety of ETL tools and XML messages

·       Strong expertise in SQL, Transact SQL, PL/SQL development.

·       Familiarity with UML modeling techniques.
