Position: sql server dba/developer needed Location: Richmond, VA Length: 6 MONTHS Rate: $45/hr *Address:* 6800 Paragon Place Richmond, VA *Job Description for the Project:* Achieved mastery of all Database Administration best practices, standards, policies, methods tools and procedures. Focus is on the proficient delivery of Database Administration services while leading the Database Administration team's use of tools, techniques and processes. · Works with senior Business and IT partners to identify, prioritize and lead the development and implementation of Database Administration standards, policies, methods, and procedures building consensus with all parties. · Leads highly complex Database Administration projects and efforts. · Demonstrates mastery of project management tools and techniques. · Accurately estimates Database Administration effort for any size project covering the projects database needs. · Works, with minimal supervision, with Vendor representatives to define, negotiate, and implement agreements to complete required work. · Provides contract supervision and makes final recommendations regarding performance of contract. · Identifies and defines standard procedures and processes, ensuring compatibility with vision and direction. · Works with Business and IT partners to identify, translate, and prioritize the most complex database architectural requirements. · Instrumental in providing guidance to subordinates in best architectural practices in maximizing the database performance. · Troubleshoots the most difficult database problems, recognized expert and go-to person. *Required Skills for the Project:* · The ideal candidates should have experience with: SQL Server 2008 (or at least SQL Server 2005) database administration. · Backup and recovery. · User security. · Performance tuning. · Database creation and modification Experience with very large SQL Server databases (over 1TB) T-SQL familiarity. · Ability to communicate with the customer concerning query performance and data updates SSIS familiarity. Candidates must comply with our company change control guidelines. · Demonstrated leadership ability with any size groups and superior communication skills, verbal, interpersonal and written. · Experience and demonstrated proficiency utilizing DBMS system management tools and demonstrated proficiency implementing the majority of new DBMS features and functionality preferred. · Prior experience with Netvault, Powercenter, Analysis Services, Business Objects, Visio, PowerPoint, Unix/AIX (including shell scripting) and UNIX/MP-RAS preferred. *Educational Qualifications/Experience:* · Requires BS/BA in Computer Science or Information Technology. · 10 + years industry experience in Information Systems and 7 + years experience in Database Administration or related disciplines or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
