** *Position: Configuration Management* * Location: Minneapolis,MN Duration: Until the end of the year. The Quality Engineering & Deployment department within New Product Technology is an exciting & dynamic organization that provides software development services in support of the creation of new products. The latest technologies & techniques for engineering quality are utilized. This includes employing continuous integration & rolling deployment as well as implementing and supporting agile development methods. We are seeking a high-energy, motivated individual, who combines an understanding & application of software configuration management disciplines, software development, good technical & problem-solving skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work as a member of a team. Primary Responsibilities -- § Participate with the project team in defining & implementing activities related to the configuration management of software development. This may include scheduling, executing, & documenting software build processes. Includes compiling software with standard software development tools, packaging builds for release, ensuring appropriate project documentation is available for each new build or release, & smoke testing builds for accuracy and completeness of the build. Accurately applies code fixes to all environments as required. § Develops scripts, applets & automation tools used to build, integrate, & deploy software releases to various platforms; this includes client & server install scripts, and build & release automation scripts. § Identifies issues in assigned projects during the lifecycle of the project. Plans and executes the resolution of those issues. § Provides technical knowledge & leadership to other team members in developing standards for SCM tools, processes, and best practices. § Implement custom solutions for MS Team Foundation Server as necessary. Minimum Qualifications § 5 or more years experience in software configuration management, software quality assurance, technical support, systems engineering, or software development. § Bachelor's Degree in a technology discipline or equivalent work experience in a technology field. § A team player with excellent written & verbal communication skills & strong organizational skills. Must have a service-oriented attitude with excellent problem solving & analytical skills. Ability to work independently, self-motivated, & highly focused. § Ability to thrive in a changing environment. Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple priorities. § Well-honed SCM skills & expert understanding of Configuration Management. Ability to perform complex SCM tasks & ability to mentor or train others in the configuration management effort. § Ability to grasp complex technical concepts quickly & ability to apply that knowledge to the software configuration management effort. Ability to communicate ideas & technical information clearly in both verbal and written form. § Possesses solid understanding in one or more of the following areas: Source Control tools such as MS Team Foundation Server, Visual Source Safe, CVS, ClearCase. Change Management tools such as Tracker, & TeamTrack; Build & Deploy tools such as Ant; Systems Platforms such as Windows 2003, Unix/Linux, MVS, XP, or Web Sphere; Software engineering or programming using a variety of software development platforms such as .Net and Java; & Unix & Windows Scripting. § Operates under minimal supervision. Receives project assignments from the Lead Software Configuration Management Engineer or Manager, but is also responsible for generating their own projects by accessing group needs & working with development groups to determine upcoming projects.
