Please send over any available candidates. *Bill rate is 50/hr* ** *General Summary/Overview Statement* The Release Engineering Specialist acts as a Leader in the coordination of configuration support for multiple complex test and development environments. Work with the overall development team, QA team, and product management to assist with product integration, and co-ordinate builds and releases.? Design, develop and maintain build automation and validation processes to scale with the organization.? Provide build support and troubleshoot build/?install problems.? Estimates, plans and tracks to completion the configuration support needed by the project. Prepares configuration standards, plans and processes and policy guidelines within the departmental standards, supervises and directs the proper flow of deliverables based on a mature Software Configuration Management process. Must have a general knowledge of every aspect of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), applicable operating systems such as UNIX and Microsoft Servers and software applications, Application/Web servers and database architectures such as SQL Server and Cache, as well as various business functions and perspectives such as Knowledge Management groups. Demonstrated ability to deliver SCM related technical solutions to problems and challenges experienced on medium to large scale projects of varying complexity. Commonly drives projects of this nature along with, or functioning as, the Project Manager by having in-depth knowledge of the technology that is used to provide the solution. Although will not have direct staff responsibility, will function as leader by virtue of his/her technical expertise. The Release Management Specialist works in collaboration with the business owners, stakeholders, user community, vendors, and Partners IS to align his/her efforts with enterprise or large organization strategic and operational goals and initiatives. S/he is a rare resource that can bring the most complex problems to resolution. S/he proposes, maintains, and enforces policies and procedures relating to these systems and applications. *Principal Duties and Responsibilities* The Release Management Specialist will own the following (but not limited to) roles: - Facilitator – serves as a liaison between varying business units to guarantee smooth and timely delivery of software products or updates for a variety of pre-production environments. - Gatekeeper – “holds the keys” to test systems/applications and takes responsibility for their implementations. - Architect – helps to identify, create and/or implement processes or products to efficiently manage the release of code and content. - Server Application Support Engineer – help troubleshoot problems with an application (although not typically at a code level). - Orchestrator – coordinate and orchestrate deliverables from multiple development and configuration groups and schedule and monitor multiple parallel test and development efforts. - Responsible for configuration audits - Utilize configuration management tools and deployment infrastructure to ensure alignment with business demands. - Responsible for configuration change control. Regulates the change process so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into products - Facilitate Change/Release management meetings with multiple inter-departmental groups such as Development, Business Analysts, and Knowledge Management teams. - Provide schedule and risk assessment via meetings and reports. - Own all Release Management plans, standards, and processes and leads Release Management related development, improvement and implementation. - Collaborate with multiple groups such as Systems Programming, KM, SOA Management and DBA’s to design, document and provision the processes for versioning, deployment and the migration of code between test and development environments *Qualifications* · Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or other technical degree · 8+ years experience relevant to configuration management and (software) release management · 3+ years enterprise level software configuration management experience. · Proven track record managing a release engineering function with Hands-on experience working with developers/development teams, Business (KM, Analysts) and IT groups · Experience with Visual Studio (TFS) 2008/2010 and VC/M or similar source control application. · Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project) · Experience in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and innovative service oriented and business process practices · Strong knowledge of Web Development, Client-Server Development, Component-based development, Interoperability, and Database development practices. · Broad understanding of technologies in the data centre/infrastructure space including: SAN management, LAN and WAN, database management, middleware technologies. · Exposure to CMMI, Six Sigma or other process improvement system preferred · Medical Industry Experience a plus *Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required* · Excellent writing and verbal communications skills (technical and non-technical) · Comfortable multi-tasking and working in an agile development environment. · Demonstrated experience in managing executive relationships and influencing others in a matrixed environment · Understands the flow of data through complex architecture; understands the consequences that erroneous data could have on patient care and/or revenue. · Ability to learn the business, systems and operations; brings the voice of the customer into the project · Ability to challenge the status quo and consistent mindset of seeking process improvements and efficiencies at all levels of the project · Able to navigate, collaborate and deliver on objectives while managing dependencies in a complex, multi-site, matrix environment. · Ability to move from detail to high-level analysis based on target audience Please send the updated resume of the consultant along with the rate, location and contact information.
