Customer has asked EMC for an expert
architect to Symmetrix storage be onsite. This person would
participate in storage meetings, design
storage layouts, manage performance, vet out migration plans, and
be responsible for the technical success
of a 6+ month implementation project of 3 to 6 VMAX systems in
3 Washington data centers.
This person will need skill sets that
include abilities to design a complex migration plans using tools such as
SRDF, OpenReplicator, and PowerPath as
well have the background to execute tasks such as storage
provisioning, TimeFinder/SRDF scripting,
and creation of FAST-VP policies. This person will also need to
document the as-built environment and
perform a knowledge transfer with run-books during the
engagement.
The customer is in the midst of an
application "modernization" project which includes the port of the their
website from Microsoft Commerce Server and
SQL over to AIX, WebSphere, and DB2. In this same effort,
legacy iSeries (OS/400) applications are
being ported to WebSphere (J2EE) on AIX as well. The customer
is very interested in PowerHA and PowerVM
capabilities from IBM, AIX servers so a resource with this
background or some familiarity would be
perfect.
- Customer is in the process of forming a
storage team; this resource needs to be able to act as a team
lead and guide the group
- This resource would need to break down
barriers within the team and be able to deal with difficult
situations
- The management structure is somewhat new
and changing; this person should be self sufficient and
motivated
- A person looking for a challenge would be
ideal
- Currently we're expecting this resource
to be onsite (in Issaquah, WA) for 5 days per week for 6 months
beginning in the month of April 2011
