Participation in a 24X7 on-call rotation is required. * * * * *Short Project Description:* The Senior Middleware engineer is operationally responsible for Internet, Intranet and Extranet web hosting environments. The Senior Middleware Engineer must have deep experience doing system design, performance analysis, and tuning of enterprise web hosting platforms. Owns and enforces Web Hosting standards and processes. This individual will help define the hardware and software stack that is used for the Customer’s next generation Web Hosting Platforms. They will have a proven track record of monitoring CPU, memory, network, and disk resources, identifying inefficiencies, and driving the changes needed to address them across the web hosting platform. This individual will be a key technical resource in the Customer’s efforts to continually evaluate and deploy next generation web hosting platform. In addition to middleware engineering, this position is responsible for day-to-day operational support which includes implementing web hosting platforms, troubleshooting incidents, initiating redundancy and recovery procedures; monitoring systems performance and performing tuning. In addition, the engineer has responsibility for providing technical support for application developers and end-users, promoting effective and efficient use of IT Services. * * *Position Details * * * Principal Accountabilities: 1. Participate as a member of an IT Infrastructure team of professionals supporting IT Services in Healthcare. 2. Develop a deep understanding of the Customer’s IT Service profile. 3. Develop effective performance measurement and tuning tools and strategies that help us to maximize the reliability, performance, and scalability of the Customer’s applications. 4. Develop cloud technologies to help maximize the scalability of the Customer’s applications 5. Recommend hardware and software configurations for the various services offered on the Customer’s platform. 6. Teach and mentor other engineers in the tools and techniques you have developed for analyzing performance of an application. 7. Displays effective human and interpersonal relations skills during collaborative efforts. 8. Provide approval for software and system modifications and development to ensure departmental standards are met. 9. Established creative, field-based strategy to consultatively identify and implement eBusiness opportunities. 10. As required, meets with project managers and application owners to review and approve all materials related to a request for IT service. Expected New Initiatives: 1. Any new projects as identified by corporate restructuring activity. 2. Activity related to any future acquisition. Job Accountabilities: 1. Research new technology, and implement or recommend implementations as dictated by business need. 2. Architect, Plan, coordinate, and implement standard web services using Apache and IIS. 3. Architect, Plan, coordinate, and implement middleware infrastructure using Oracle Weblogic, Apache Tomcat, Red Hat JBoss, and .NET components. 4. Architect, Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware. 5. Design, configure and test computer hardware, networking software and operating systems. 6. Design, plan, coordinate, and implement security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware. 7. Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes. 8. Monitor system performance in order to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made and in the future. 9. Gather data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret and evaluate system and network requirements. 10. Analyze equipment performance records in order to determine the need for repair or replacement. 11. Maintain logs related to network functions, we well as maintenance and repair records. 12. Coordinates installation of new hardware/software; installs, tests, and monitors the operation of hardware/software; configures hardware/software to meet project goals. 13. Provides server support and maintenance; uses various utilities to troubleshoot, repair, and check configuration on servers 14. Schedules and performs completion of Incident support cases. 15. Executes proper Change Control procedures. 16. Maintain and administer a diverse global application portfolio. 17. Perfrom day to day functions utilizing basic EJB Container concepts, code deployments, MQ endpoint administration, ACLs, and JDBC tuning. 18. Operate master consoles in order to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate network access and use. Work Requirements: 1. 10 years experience with Web Hosting platform design, performance analysis, and tuning of enterprise-grade systems. 2. 3 years experience with cloud technologies to help maximize the scalability of infrastructure services 3. 10 years experience in administering a diverse Web Hosting environment. 4. 10 years project experience related to designing and implementing technology projects to meet business objectives of the IT department and the Customer’s 5. 10 years experience with remote-site disaster recovery. Education / Certifications: 1. Bachelor of Science, Computer Science 2. Weblogic, JBoss, and/or IIS certified 3. Title 21 CFR Part 11 of the Code of Federal Regulations 4. Occasional travel to remote sites. 5. Participation in group 24x7 on-call schedule.
