We have a contract opportunity for a CISCO. The project is in Harrisburg, PA. *Rate: $45 per hour* *Short Description: *** Under limited supervision is responsible for development, enhancement, and implementation, of networked computer systems and customer support of system users. *Complete Description: *** ** The Client is seeking 2 Cisco Network Engineers who have strong Design and Implementation experience. ** Evaluates identified network needs and prepares recommended technical solutions. Troubleshoots and resolves complex network problems. Performs in a Technical Lead role for a variety of projects. 1. Collaborate with PENNDOT developers and partners to develop information systems. A. Attend meetings and interact with the Office of Administrative Bureaus of Consolidated Computer Services; Commonwealth Telecommunication Services; and Desktop Technology to implement new networks, software, and projects. 2. Plans/Designs overall architecture of PENNDOT LAN/WAN networks including, but not limited to: A. Design overall architecture of PENNDOT LAN/WAN networks including, but not limited to: server sizing, server configuration, firewalls, network bandwidth analysis and capacity planning, routers and switches. B. Provides detailed specifications and schematic engineering drawings for network enhancements and modifications. Develops documentation for configuration of all network components including setup, installation, and overall deployment of all network hardware and software. C. Assists in the development of configuration standards. D. Ensures PENNDOT standard for 4 tier network (production, development, test, and sandbox) is adhered to. E. Reviews documents where network wiring and cabling may be involved to assure that all aspects of network requirements are completely covered and that specifications meet all appropriate PENNDOT and/or industry networking technical standards. F. Develops documentation and procedures to communicate structures of file servers, directories, and permitted users. G. Evaluates, plans, and implements new network technology, including planning, deployment, and management of new network resources/technology. H. Develops new procedures and forms to improve efficiency. 3. Supports operation of PENNDOT network as required. A. Designs, sets up, and staffs network operations consoles. B. Establishes remote paging and dial in for network problems. C. Proactively identifies and resolves network issues. D. Places service calls for network equipment. E. Supports mainframe links including ODBC, MQ Series, and others. F. Maintains/enhances Cisco routers and switches on PENNDOT network. G. Performs other network operations support functions to assist Network Engineers as required. 4. Performs Network Management functions using various management and monitoring tools available including sophisticated network and server management systems. A. Establishes and documents standard procedures for operation, management, and monitoring. B. Monitors network performance and provides network statistics to identify capacity or performance problems and makes technical recommendations for appropriate action. 5. Proactively plans for business continuity and disaster avoidance. A. Designs, documents, and maintains backup and recovery procedures. B. Creates/updates disaster recovery plans. C. Participates in disaster recovery drills. 6. Perform related duties as required. Strong knowledge of Windows and Windows products products including Windows Server and Windows XP, personal computer software set up and installation, PC connectivity products and PC hardware connectivity. 8.Demonstrated ability to establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames and under tight deadlines and a willingness to work off hours as the need arises in support of changes to the LANs and WANs. 9.Effective verbal communication skills are required to work with all levels of the organization including management, vendors, and various PENNDOT personnel. Effective writing skills are required in order to document work performed. 10.Superior interpersonal and customer service skills required including ability to work effectively in a team environment. High level of proficiency in effective problem solving required. Working Conditions Weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call, and overtime may be required.
