The Business Intelligence Center (BIC) is responsible for deploying reporting and analytical solutions across and outside the company. The Sr. Cognos Developer / Technology Specialist leads all aspects of the delivery of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions and related components Sr. Cognos Developer / Technology Specialist understands business challenges and translates them into requirements/solutions. The Sr. Cognos Developer / Technology Specialist has experience analysis, designing, developing, and implementing complex Cognos 8 solutions; relational and multi-dimensional data modeling, including the use of standard data modeling tools. *DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** *• Serve as an advocate towards ensuring that the applications and projects align with Enterprise Data Warehouse architecture goals. Provides guidance regarding best practices, data validation, access, naming conventions and storage. • Understand business requirements, logical specifications and translate them into solutions • Design and develop analytic and reporting solutions using Cognos 8, Oracle, SQL and potentially other standard web and reporting tools to support business reporting and analysis • Design, develop and implement complex Cognos 8 solutions • Design and develop dashboards, key performance indicators and other solutions • Work with architects to develop data models, design specifications, and metadata documentation • Provide oversight on complex project in the same time roll-up and roll-down in your project hierarchy and corporate structure. • Collaborate with other cross-functional IT architects (e.g. Data Warehouse team) • Review data models with data architect and ETL developers, ensuring business requirements are met during development and that data is accurate and consistent. *REQUIRED EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:** *• Demonstrated hands on experience with two or more full lifecycle Cognos BI implementation • A demonstrated ability to understand and articulate complex BI requirements • A documented history of successfully driving projects to completion • Prioritization and organizational skills to execute and manage many tasks concurrently • Advanced knowledge of SQL (3+ year’s experience). • Java Programming knowledge (1+ year’s experience) • Strong data modeling and design knowledge: Data modeling theory, Semantic consistency (across the enterprise), 3NF Operational modeling, Dimensional modeling (star schema and snowflake), DBMS constructs (views, constraints, indexes, etc.), Logical and physical data modeling. • 10+ years experience in Business Intelligence / IT Industry • The most recent 5 years of experience should be in Business Intelligence or Data Warehousing type projects, and the most recent 2 years should be in a Cognos development role, as a senior or lead Cognos developer. • 5+ years experience in Cognos BI (Series 8, Report/Analysis/Query Studios, Framework Manager, and Transformer) including architecting, administering, developing and supporting the environment. • 3+ years experience in the Cognos 8 suite of Business Intelligence tools.
