*TITLE: *Storage and Backup Engineer, Storage & Backup Engineering &
Operations

The Storage and Backup Engineer is competent to drive and deliver projects
and demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the Backup Infrastructure,
Storage Arrays (SAN/NAS), SAN fabric, server and database technologies, and
industry standards common to big production environments.  The successful
candidate for this position is recognized as adept and experienced in the
field of System, Storage, and Backup Engineering and Administration, being
able to implement, and operate system level components and environments to
meet the requirements of the stakeholders and applications that run on
them.

A Storage and Backup Engineer must be able to lead initiatives, make
recommendations when consulted by other internal groups within the
organization, and assist leading other team members within the Enterprise
Storage Engineering & Operations team. The Storage and Backup Engineer is
responsible for assisting in managing daily storage and backups/restore
operations.  This includes day-to-day monitoring, reporting, provisioning,
troubleshooting, and cross-functional integration of backups/restores,
storage allocation, and SAN provisioning in an environment consisting of
HPUX, Linux, Windows, and Solaris servers. The Storage and Backup Engineer
will also participate in an on-call rotation schedule, as the Operations
team provides 24x7x365 support for the customer-facing aspects of its
service.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES:
These responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

   - System Operations 24x7 on call escalation for production support
   break/fix issues
   - Engineer solutions and target hardware and storage and backup
   architecture configurations for new projects being deployed to production.
   - Implement and Operate Backup and Storage solutions to scale our tool
   set and process efficiencies to meet our customer demands
   - Work with internal applications teams to review new applications and
   define requirements and standards to be introduced into production.
   - Ability to work on complex problems and engineer solutions to author
   and deliver detailed documentation of Storage system level procedures,
   configurations and standards.
   - Identifying current bottlenecks and breakdowns in process and
   streamlining Storage and Backup provisioning solutions.
   - Author intelligent scripts intended to replace existing manual server
   configuration and bringing new servers/services to production more
   efficiently


   - Identify and support Enterprise grade solutions and sustainment of
   Storage, Backup and Server Automation
   - Be able to juggle several different issues at the same time more
   specifically take all inquiries from internal and external teams and
   provide topical feedback.
   - Experience in a medium-large scale (SAN/NAS) Storage and
   Backup/Restore Environment.
   - Use best practices to provision storage (Volumes/LUNs) from the
   storage array through the fabric and to the host.
   - Use best practices to complete backup and restores from tape libraries
   to hosts
   - Ability to work effectively as a team member in a fast paced, dynamic,
   deadline-driven environment; must be able to mutli-task.
   - Requires in-depth knowledge and techniques used in system
   administration plus knowledge of and ability to use relevant hardware,
   software and other equipment.
   - Must be able to respond to, identify, isolate and resolve issues
   related to the storage and backup environment.
   - Assist with daily storage and backup operations including
   configuration and maintenance as well as allocating, and troubleshooting
   SAN/NAS and Backup/Restore related issues.

   REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


   - At least 2 years hands-on experience implementing, and operating
   Backup/Restore solutions from Veritas/Symantec, ADIC, StorageTek, Quantum,
   Copan, DataDomain; including multiple products from these vendors
   - At least 2 years hands-on experience designing, implementing, and
   operating storage solutions from HP, EMC, and NetApp storage products and
   offerings of the multiple storage arrays from these vendors.
   - At least 2 years hands-on experience of supporting and engineering
   storage Area Networks (SAN) including Fibre Channel Directors/Switches
   (Brocade and Cisco)
   - At least 2 years hands-on experience supporting and engineering
   experience using EMC, HP, NetApp, Copan, ADIC, StorageTek, Quantum, and
   DataDomain management tools.
   - In-depth operational experience working with industry regulations such
   as SOX/PCI compliance and encryption technologies and implementing them
   into storage / backup environments.
   - At least 2 years of experience with HPUX, NT, Linux, Solaris, and
   Windows operating systems.
   - At least 2 years of experience with Symantec/Veritas Volume manager
   (VxVM) or understanding of Logical Volume Managers extremely helpful.
   - At least 2 years of experience in Telecommunications, Operations, or
   Engineering field supporting a production Storage and Backup environment
   with 24x7 escalations
   - Experience with using Jira / Wiki.
   - Experience with Oracle on Linux and/or Solaris and SQL on Windows is a
   plus.
   - Experience writing test scripts and working with test tools and
   applications
   - Web scripting considered a big plus HTML,XML, PHP, PERL CGI, MySQL
   - Understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite (e.g. ARP, IP, TCP, DNS,
   UDP, and SNMP)
   - Must have good written, verbal and interpersonal skills in order to
   communicate with a wide range of internal and external customers.
   - Proven analytical, problem solving and organizational ability
   - Creative, self-motivated, self-learned team player willing to take the
   lead to develop complicated high availability system designs and
   configurations
   - Experience with leading large projects from the development and
   engineering phases and following through to final production deployment.
   - BS in Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent work experience in
   storage and backup engineering and operations.
