*Overview:*
The *Software Automation Engineer* develops automated regression test
solutions using designated software tools to provide greater and more
in-depth test coverage with shortened test timeframes. The primary role of
this person is to automate the testing of major software applications
through the implementation of an automation development methodology that
includes the design and specification of infrastructure, specialized
databases, data entry processes, validation functions and customized
utilities. Although assigned duties also include traditional test
engineering functions such as the execution of the automation suite, the
analysis of the results and the determination of the root cause for any
failures require a thorough understanding of both the automated test suite
and target application functionality. The Software Automation Engineer
works directly with the software development teams, the manual test teams
and the business analysts to assess the scope of the automated testing
effort for each software release.
*Responsibilities:*
- Functional and Technical testing of Web Services
- Assess and evaluate QA test requirements and determine the scope of
functionality to be covered by automated testing
- Develop an automated test plan and strategy for each release
- Create and maintain automated test scripts, data and associated
drivers per the recognized SDLC methodology
- Conduct code reviews, debug code, and maintain associated databases
- Serve as subject matter expert for test automation within the
department
- Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of the test automation
framework
- Understand the test plan to design an automation suite, code it,
execute the suite and debug issues
- Execute automated test suites as assigned
- Analyze test results and determine root cause of failures
- Use system traces and debugging tools for problem determination and
system tuning.
- Summarize and publish test results for internal customers, including
performance risks
- Generate the appropriate documentation for issue tracking,
verification and certification
- Work with other IT teams to resolve runtime and script execution
problems
- Define and track quality assurance metrics relevant to automated
testing
*Qualifications:*
*Technical Requirements:*
- Good knowledge of XML, XSD and the associated standards
- Basic knowledge of object-oriented application development principles,
concepts, and object-oriented analysis, and design
- Good knowledge of Core Java, J2EE, and application servers such as
WebLogic
- Basic knowledge of products like Struts, ANT, Hibernate, Spring,
Eclipse
- Basic knowledge of UNIX operating systems
- Good understanding of testing methodologies and concepts (i.e. test
case, test scenarios, validation approach, terminologies).
- Knowledge in tools utilized to create automated test scripts (prefer
Rational Functional Tester experience).
- Knowledge in tools utilized for Functional testing of Web Services
(prefer Eviware SoapUI experience).
- Experience in utilizing version control software (prefer IBM Rational
Clearcase).
- Experience in test case management tools (prefer IBM Rational).
- Good knowledge of scripting languages:
- Groovy
- Perl
- Unix Shell

We have an opportunity for a passionate and talented Software QA Engineer
to join our software engineering team in San Mateo, California. The right
candidate would be responsible for insuring the quality of our cutting-edge
software products enabling our customers to have the best possible
experience using their Routers. This is an on-site contract position (6
months or more)
Appropriate candidates will have the *following skills, qualifications and
experience*:
• A passion for releasing top-of-the-line software
• Twoor more years of Cloud/API testing in a sophisticated development
environment
• Hands-on experience automating with JMETER, JAVA
• Proven Expertise in testing REST based APIs
• Experience in using tools like JIRA, ApTest is preferred
• Experience in writing test cases and executing them
• Familiarity in JavaScript, HTML, XML
• Proficient in testing cross-platform (Windows & Mac) browsers, OS
• Good understanding of Quality Assurance fundamentals, strategies and
technologies
• Ability to demonstrate exceptional test case writing, test execution and

• Enthusiastic and motivated, with effective organizational and
communication skills
• Testing with mobile (iOS) based Applications would be a plus
• Total experience of 5 or more years
