CSC - Computer Sciences Corp

Test Lead

Leads overall test efforts for small to mid-sized software product
development or support projects or parts of large, more complex projects.
Coordinates functional testing to measure quality of functional (business)
components and to ensure that the product meets business requirements and
design specifications.  Authors test plans, leads team of testers, and
ensures that required test deliverables have been completed according to
test procedures and policies.  May also advise and mentor on quality
assurance practices within the project team.

                Essential Job Functions:

•             Leads and monitors progress of functional test team and their
efforts for new application release candidates and testing of defect fixes
during each phase of the development cycle.  Establishes level of effort to
test new application release candidates.



•             Determines test strategies and authors test plans.  Guides
team members as they author test cases and automation scripts based on
business requirements and design specifications to verify that the
application meets business objectives and customer requirements.

•             Communicates the status of the test team’s progress on test
case/script development and execution of test plan, including raising
potential issues and outstanding problems to project and quality assurance
personnel.

•             Works closely with development team and configuration
management to coordinate delivery of software components to the testing
environments. Coordinates set up of test environments, including
specification of test data, test tools, application-specific hardware, etc.

•             Ensures the team is following industry best practices and
specific internal procedures and standards. Encourages the team to
continually incorporate test process improvements to current procedures to
improve productivity and quality.

•             Performs quality control checks on application release
candidates, determines final issue resolution status, and authorizes
progression to next testing phase.

•             Utilizes complex software testing tools (Silk Test Manager
and Issue Tracking) and develops complex test software (Silk Test) for use
in automated test activities.

•             Documents all test results and documentation for client
delivery.

                Basic Qualifications:

•             Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information
Systems, Mathematics, or Business preferred.  Equivalent combination of
education and experience accepted

•             Six or more years of software testing and quality assurance
experience

•             Experience working with project management methodology and
related planning tools

•             Experience leading small- to mid-sized teams of testers,
coordinating work against schedules, and providing guidance and direction
as needed

•             Experience testing large Healthcare systems.  Medicaid
experience is desired but not required.  Experience with 5010 EDI
transactions such as 837I, 837P, 837D, 270/271, 834, 835 desired but not
required

•             Experience working directly with clients, providing them with
guidance and status, understanding their regulatory/validation
requirements, and rendering prompt responses

•             Experience working with testing methodologies, software
testing tools, defect tracking tools, and SQL

Other Qualifications:

•             Strong people management and time management skills.  Strong
organization and planning skills.

•             Strong analytical and problem solving skills to analyze data,
to identify and assess problems in the application, and to test
modifications and enhancements

•             Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact
with team members, customers, management, and support personnel and explain
methodologies and test results

•             Good presentation skills to present test results to
individuals and groups

•             Good personal computer and business solutions software skills

•             Strong leadership skills to guide and mentor the work of less
experienced personnel

•             Ability to complete assigned responsibilities independently
on time and within a fixed budget with moderate technical support
