Title: Associate Director, Software Architecture posted on 2014-01-08 12:33:13 Job Description:This is our direct-client opening for an Associate Director, Software Architecture located in Cheshire, CT. This is a full-time position with a salary range of 145-180K, and our client will consider nonlocal candidates since relocation will be provided for this crucial position. The Associate Director, Software Architecture is responsible for applying their deep knowledge and technical expertise in the creation and execution of software architecture best practices in the design and implementation of large scale enterprise software applications. The ideal candidate will be an experienced lead developer/architect and will have significant expertise in industry standard tools and methodologies. The role works with business partners and external service providers to ensure that new capabilities comply with the information architecture. *Principal Responsibilities* Responsible for defining enterprise wide technology standards to promote creation of flexible customer oriented solutions and help technical teams evolve solutions towards enterprise standards. Direct the implementation and evolution of the appropriate architecture policies and practices. Planning, analyzing and defining software strategies and solutions through business, functional and technical expertise Owning the design and delivery of multi-tier architectures and applications that meet functional and non-functional requirements. Leading teams in analyzing, designing and implementing enterprise-wide systems. Implementing or supervising the implementation of the technical infrastructure to support the architectural design Assisting in researching potential vendors of software applications Supervising the design, coding, testing and maintenance of software applications Overseeing the creation, execution and documentation of tests. Recommending efforts in defining characteristics, capabilities, inputs, outputs, and results necessary to describe the required functionality of the selected technologies Assisting in identifying, analyzing, mitigating and responding to project and operational risks Assisting in utilizing efficient and effective processes and standards in order to continuously improve quality Assisting in determining resource status and needs, and assisting in deploying resources Evaluate new technologies from simple research through setting up and running an effective proof-of-concept, to determine if and when they should be incorporated into the business. Act as technical advisor and participate as needed on development projects, leading, directing, and implementing solutions in partnership with development managers and teams. Help promote development practices and technologies that lead to effective development and high quality solutions. Work closely with current staff in our distributed onshore and offshore IT organization to ensure architectural cohesion and strategic technical alignment Job Requirements: *Qualifications* The candidate must have at least 8+ years of experience as a Lead Developer/Architect working with: Java, Programming, JDBC, Java EE, Spring Framework Web Services (SOAP, REST) Service Oriented Architecture (Design, Implementation, Governance) UML object and data modeling Source Control (Git, Subversion) Application Servers (Tomcat, JBoss, SAP Netweaver) Portal technologies (SAP Portal, SAP BW portal, SAP BO Launchpad, MS SharePoint) SAP integration (RFC, BAPI, PI, IDOC) Data modeling and Databases Design: (MSQL, MySQL, Oracle) *Must have experience with SAP systems as this is SW architect* Experience managing the successful analysis, design, implementation and delivery of end to end multi-tier medium to large scale enterprise systems Experience with enterprise application level solution design using UML and good understanding of Normalization and Data modeling Experience working across multiple languages, platforms and technologies Broad exposure to SAP solutions in various business contexts Knowledge of mobile development concepts and practices Multi-National and multi-cultural experience, experience working in other countries desired *Education * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or closely related discipline Java/ Middleware related Technical certifications desirable. *Please complete the following skills-matrix and send back with your updated resume.* Full Name: Degree/Major: Total Experience in a Managerial or Director-level role: Total Experience with Java Technologies: Total Experience with Web Services: Total Experience with Service Oriented Architecture: Total Experience with SAP Portal technologies: Total Experience with Data Modeling and Database Design: Do you have any experience working with offshore teams?
