Title: Java developer posted on 2014-01-08 12:38:12 Job Description: *Position : backend java developer with socket programming experience Location: Rockville, MDDuration: 3 yrs+* Description: Primary Responsibilities: - Create/modify modules that read from and write to various data sources, such as real time data feeds, files, and databases. - Model and implement new business requirements into the scalable and high performing Oracle, Netezza, and GreenPlum database designs. - Be part of a team of developers on refactoring other parts of the system. - Estimate given tasks, discuss design with technical lead, and follow implementation strategy. - Participate in peer code reviews, code management, testing, and other well-defined development procedures. - Contribute and produce technical documentation as assigned by the project technical lead. - Conform to company standards for code development, maintenance, and management. - Follow software development lifecycle communicating activity through ticket tracking system. Functional Skills: - Very high attention to detail – most of this work is reproducing functionality currently implemented in one technology into another. The candidate must be able to fully understand from the existing code base all of the features that must be implemented, minimizing issues that make it to QC. - Strong analytical and problem solving skills. - Ability to work without much supervision. - Strong focus on unit testing. Required Technical Skills: - 5+ years – Hands-on Java development and deployment. - 3+ years – SQL development both DDL and DML. - 2+ years – Hands-on Java Unit Testing with JUnit. Preferred Skills: - Java multithreading and synchronization. - Java sockets. - Spring. - ORM frameworks such as Hibernate, iBatis, etc. - Database performance tuning. - Any Sun Java developer certifications are a plus.
