Title: SAS Administrator posted on 2014-03-24 14:45:06 Job Description: SAS Administrator Phoenix, AZ Long Term *Job Description :* Ø Checking the status and operations of SAS servers and processes, including starting, stopping, and/or pausing the servers / processes used in the SAS system Ø Monitoring, logging, and/or troubleshooting SAS servers and processes, including error messages and using system logs or setting logging options as well as options within SAS Management Console (SMC) Ø Troubleshooting basic SAS server issues, such as system access and password problems Ø Understanding SAS installation directory structures, where to find things related to servers, configurations, content, etc. Ø Performing basic system administration tasks such as monitoring CPU / RAM / Disk space utilization, port utilization and running processes on applicable OS Ø In a logical, scientific manner, troubleshooting SAS-related performance issues by working with customer's systems administrators, network administrators, web application server administrators, database administrators and/or storage administrators Ø Understanding how SAS interacts with third party software such as databases, web application servers, etc. Ø Assisting with problems pertaining to accessing the SAS server(s) or data Ø Monitoring for availability and then installing updates to SAS software (patches / maintenance releases / hot fixes, etc.) Ø Working with the customer's systems administrator to secure server resources and file systems to ensure SAS objects having a server component are secure via the operating system Ø Interfacing with the customer's Web Application Server Administrator when needed pertaining to SAS web applications Ø Assisting customer users with SAS code from an administration perspective (e.g., helping issue OS level commands from within SAS programs) Ø Providing knowledge transfer, mentoring and expert advice to customer on the efficient administration of the SAS system Ø Interfacing with SAS Technical Support Ø Having good oral and written communication skills Ø Leading and/or actively participating in SAS knowledge-sharing activities.
