Looking forward to hear from you... *Role: Linux/VMWare Systems Engineer* *Location: Sunnyvale, CA* *Duration: 6 Months* *Rate: $/hr on C2C All Incl.* *Roles and Responsibilities:* *This position has responsibility and authority for:* Deployment, configuration and administration of VMware vSphere environments. Managing Linux (Red Hat) servers. Perform administration tasks related to DNS, DHCP, NIS, LDAP. Configure servers, install patches, and support the virtual infrastructure. In-depth knowledge of storage area networking (SAN) and network attached storage (NAS) systems. Configure & support FC and NFS data stores for VMware. Respond to and remediate VMware system deficiencies. Root cause and failure analysis to resolve technical problems. Monitor system performance and resources. Collect, interpret and analyze performance data. Work with other systems administrators on maintenance of infrastructure. Perform ongoing performance tuning, upgrades and resource optimization as directed. Research and recommend creative, automated approaches for system administration tasks. *Skill/Job Requirements:* *Competency Requirements: (Competency is based on: education, training, skills and experience.) In order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the individual must:* 5+ years of System Administration experience. 5+ years hands on experience with VMware ESX. Experience with VMware VCenter Operations manager tool preferred. Experience in supporting VDI environment preferred. 3 + years of experience with Linux operating systems (RHEL). Scripting experience (BASH, Perl, Python, PowerCLI). Experience managing network services (DNS servers, DHCP servers, VLANS). Ability to troubleshoot complex issues quickly and effectively. Understanding of basic TCP/IP and internet protocols. Experience with any modern RDBMS systems (Oracle, SQL, MySQL) preferred. Experience in supporting VDI environment preferred.
