Business Objects Data Services position Location: Englewood, NJ Duration: 6+ Months Summary Description: Advises on the implementation (and maintenance) of the integrated data warehouse environment highly dependent upon SAP as a primary data source. Primary function is to design, develop, and implement ETL data flows into an integrated Teradata/SAP database environment, leveraging the various ETL tools and approaches from SAP applications and other sources. Deep understanding of BusinessObjects Data Services or Informatica preferred with the exposure to UDC, multiple segment industry LDM's, SAP/BW, SAP NetWeaver BI, SAP ECC, CRM, and SCM. Additional skills include high level designing of the processes and integration for source, extract, cleanse, transform, and load or strong ability to model SAP data for analytics. Must have the ability to understand the SAP sources driving the overall requirements and integrating them into the design. This individual may have design skills in one particular area, such as designing the extract of data from the SAP system, or may be proficient in designing the load routine or may have the skills to design all areas of ETL or third normal form (3NF) data modeling. In cases where an ETL tool is used, must be knowledgeable in these tools to match the design with the features the tool has to offer. Provides efficient design and construction of systems and subsystems to extract, condition, and load data from operational systems (SAP) and other sources into a defined physical data model, according to business and technical requirements. Of extreme importance is the ability to work with non-company, non-client project teams responsible for one of the following major areas of integration; SAP ERP / ECC, SAP/BW, SAP NetWeaver BI or HANA. Key Areas of Responsibility: • Customer Facing Responsibility • Interface with developers for performance and data access requirements. • Interface with system stewards to gather requirements. • Define data element requirements including history, timeliness and frequency of data. • Define volume and timing requirements. • Design the ETL interface inputs including technology choices. • Define server process requirements. • Design, develop, and test processes for extracting data from legacy systems or production databases. • Design, develop, and test processes for validating and conditioning data prior to loading into a data warehouse. • Design, develop, and test processes for loading initial data into a data warehouse. • Design, develop, and test processes for loading cyclical data into a data warehouse. • Participate in performance, integration, and system testing. Skill set: • Strong presentation skills • Hands-on experience applying modeling techniques to actual business solutions • Experience in designing, developing, and implementing relational databases • Experience in designing, developing, and implementing ETL process (batch and real time replication (Change data Capture) Qualifications Required Skills: • Strong Presentation skills • At least 5 years of functional experience with either SAP BusinessObjects Data Services or Informatica • At least 5 years of data movement experience with SAP ERP or SAP BW. • BA/BS Degree • Solid understanding of Data Warehouse principles (modeling) and trends within the industry. Preferences: • BA or BS in Business or Computer Science desirable. • At least 10 years of data movement into a Data Warehouse, including Teradata. • Experience within one of the Big 4 consulting firms. • Hands-on general experience working with people from different parts of an organization with proven ability to develop ETL and integrate plans.
