Web Application and WebServices Developer New York City 12 months Rate = Open Phone and Face to Face Our client is seeking a full time Open Source Web Application Developer to assist in the creation and management of development platforms. These development platforms primarily include Java and Ruby based applications. The work will involve creating both stand alone Web Applications and Enterprise Web Services (REST). JOB DESCRIPTION The Web Application Developer, who will work closely with senior Technology staff, will assume the following duties: · Actively participate in the development activities for new sites and maintenance of existing sites. · Design and implement REST web services · Work with other development staff and manage external vendors to guide development efforts · Provide troubleshooting and application support for critical production issues. · Create detailed documentation for support purposes · Developer will have the opportunity to create Chef configuration management scripts for server configuration and deployment. REQUIRED SKILLS · Bachelor's degree in CS, Information Technology or related field; or an equivalent combination of skills, training and experience. · Extensive Experience with MVC frameworks for Ruby and Java languages including Ruby On Rails, Sinatra, Spring, PlayFramework, etc · Extensive Experience with Ruby and Java programming languages · Experience with building and designing REST Web Services · Competent HTML/CSS/Javascript coding abilities - including the latest standards (HTML5, CSS3) and Web 2.0 / AJAX · Experience using GIT version control · Experience with Unix operating system (Ubuntu, RedHat Linux, CentOS) · Experience with Mysql DBMS 5.0+, including writing advanced SQL queries and performance tuning. · Experience with PHP MVC frameworks (Symphony, Zend) desired but not required. · Experience with MongoDB desired. · Experience with Python scripting desired. · Experience with Chef configuration management software is highly desired. · Knowledge of Testing/QA processes, including automated front end and unit testing · Strong written and oral communication skills - ability to write technical documentation.
