The Consulting DBA will work with other technicians, business analysts, and business owners to understand requirements and identify solutions. The Consulting DBA is expected to possess and utilize significant breadth and depth of experience in the design, development, maintenance, and administration of databases, and will be expected to work with little supervision. The culture of our organization places an emphasis on teamwork, so social and interpersonal skills are equally important as technical capability. The key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following: 1. Physical database design, construction, & implementation using current database technology 2. Collaborative design & development with programmers and business analysts 3. Problem analysis, diagnosis, and implementation of resolutions 4. Performance monitoring & tuning 5. On-call support for production systems, jobstreams, and processes 6. Database backup (archive) & recovery 7. Business continuity planning 8. Capacity planning, monitoring, and upgrade implementation 9.
