*Senior Java Developer with .Net* *Reston**, VA*** *3 Months* *$50-55/hr* * * *About the Position:* This position provides software design, development and maintenance support for various business applications for the Desktop Underwriter platform. The position requires a thorough understanding of full life-cycle software development practices. The candidate will maintain awareness of technologies and development practices used by the different groups in Automated Underwriting division. She/He must have the ability to effectively manage change and meet deadlines as they evolve and observe quality standards. The candidate must have the ability to lead short term projects. *Responsibilities:* Design & development of business application software using Java, J2EE, WebLogic and Open source technologies such as hibernate and struts. Apply technical skills to business systems development projects. Follow established software development and documentation practices (design reviews, code reviews, rigorous unit and component testing) to ensure high quality deliverables (documentation, software, etc.). Assist QA by reviewing test plans and use cases. Ensure code is released to QA in stable, functioning condition with minimal defects. On a periodic basis, serve as the primary support person to investigate issues raised by AU Operations, business and other AU development teams. Assist in identification and implementation of strategies to streamline platforms, procedures, and the development and deployment process for SFT AUT systems. Ensure corporate policy (e.g. SOX Compliance, ELSIF, etc.) is considered and followed in all development life cycle phases. Maintain an awareness of current and upcoming compliance and operational risk management initiatives and requirements, assess the impact of these on development and production support activities, and assist the Business and Compliance teams in translating compliance policy into technical solutions *Required Skills:* *8+ years* of software design, development and maintenance experience Expertise in J2EE development environment using *JSP, Struts, WebLogic and HTML/XML* *Expertise in .NET development.* *Expertise in PL/SQL and use of Oracle database.* Strong knowledge and use of design patterns and development methodologies, standards and procedures Ability to multi-task and provide expertise for multiple projects and teams Excellent written and verbal communications skills Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering or related field Preferred Skills: Experience in working with *UNIX* environment including developing shell and Perl scripts.
