Here is the job description: Title: UDB Oracle DBA Location: Benton Harbor, MI Expected Start Date: 12/8/2008 Project Duration: 6 months Description: Requirement Details: UDB Oracle DBA - GIS Delivery Lead, with minimal direction, consults and implements complex infrastructure and application deployment activities with full competency in specific disciplines and good working knowledge of interfaces and dependencies. Acts as a source of training, direction, and guidance to less experienced staff. Has limited, indirect accountability for people development. Drives system and business changes. System and infrastructure deployment activities may include managing small and medium projects, coordinating and defining team activities and monitoring project schedules and costs. Support activities may include cross functional area problem root cause analysis, tuning metric development, and developing systems administration and maintenance guidelines. Governance and compliance activities include developing and implementing compliance strategies, managing security incidences, evaluating GIS global programs and processes for improvements and gaps. Skill Requirements: Oracle DBA Requirements: Must have: . Support Oracle Versions: 8.1, 9.2, 10.2 . Oracle High Availability (is a must have) . Server OS: AIX 5, Linux (SUSE 10, ,RedHat) . Scripting: Unix ksh / bash Scripting Maintain database software: . Create appropriate database and database structures. . Define and implement appropriate utilities to monitor database functions and activity. . Provide scripts to simplify recurring activities diagnose problems and remediate problems when they occur. . Implement automated notification via email and/or pager when conditions require immediate attention. . Work with database management software to organize and store data for peak performance and system resource utilization. . Coordinate database changes with various team leads. . Prepare and implement a backup and recovery strategy for local and offsite database recovery. . Ensure appropriate space management for databases. . Experience with Quest, OEM, Grid, and Oracle RAC a bonus .
