The position exists to provide subject matter expertise in the domain and institutional knowledge for new development as well as life cycle management of CLIENT applications, systems, and tools. This role works in collaboration with the CLIENT community as well as outsourced vendor engineering teams to provide consulting and delivery towards all aspects and phases of software design and development efforts. The Sr. Solutions Engineer identifies ways technology solutions can be applied to support business strategies and improve business processes. Individuals in this role will be responsible for individual project deliverables (designs, code, unit test plans, technical documentation, etc) as well as be responsible to clarify business needs and provide direction to outsourced vendor resources. In addition, they may be asked to assists product managers and business representatives in requirements elaboration. Incumbents will also review estimates and designs amongst the development team as well as the invention team to ensure compliance with architectural standards. * * *QUALIFICATIONS:* 1.Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, math or equivalent technical discipline or technical experiences; 2.Minimum of four years experience in all phases of product and/or system development with Web Application and Client Server Application development. Ideally, the candidate will have recent and relevant experience with legal research tools, products, and related technology; 3.Proven ability to lead major technical project design, engineering and integration efforts with attention to detail and closure; 4.Demonstrated ability as a strong technical engineer who can design and code as well as provide guidance to global development teams; 5.Minimum of 4 years of development experience with .NET and .NET Framework 2.0 or later; 6.Hands-on development experience with VB.NET and/or C#, XML, XSL,CSS, SQL queries, and Microsoft Team Foundation Server ; 7.Experience with SharePoint Web Part development, Flex or Silverlight is a plus; 8.Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate and positively contribute with all stakeholders, customers, consulting solutions engineers, testing organizations, IT infrastructure and global engineering teams, as well as adapt to the level of the audience; 9.Demonstrated solid understanding of the technologies and domain knowledge used within one or more components, as well as proven ability to provide technical guidance. * * *ACCOUNTABILITIES:* 1.Work with product managers, project managers, business unit partners, consulting solution engineers, invention team engineers, etc. to identify and understand customer workflow and business needs to help in the development of their overall technical solutions strategy as well as the development of new concepts, product requirements and estimates 2.Work closely with the stakeholder to develop solutions that meet the business needs like cost and time to market as well as align with the overall CLIENT architecture. If necessary, provide alternative solutions to business units along with cost/benefit analysis. Be aware of the needs of the business unit partners and work closely with GSD as well as non GSD peers to meet those needs. 3.Display strong communication skills. Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with technical (both internal and outsourced) and business personnel as well as external customers 4.Provide answers to customer/stakeholder inquiries concerning system software and applications. Provide software development and consultation to prospective users 5.Analyze concepts and ultimately projects to accurately assess the cost of providing solutions.
