Data Services Location - NJ Duration - 1 year + Rate - Open Job Description: This is a contract position. This individual contributor will help design and implement client/server-based technologies in the development of upcoming major projects. The candidate is expected to have a sound understanding of the software development life cycle and possess good insight into design patterns and designing applications using an OOPS. This person will be responsible for creating data models and database design documents for other developers on the team. The position requires excellent written and oral communication skills. The position interacts with all Engineering development teams. The role?s focus is database design and usage within a distributed application. RESPONSIBILITIES • Implement data services applications • Review and understand data services application functional specifications. • Contribute to data services application design specifications. • Work with off shore development teams implementing data services applications. • Work with Software Quality Assurance (SQA) to validate the correct implementation of systems and applications. • Interact with other engineering teams and other stakeholders as appropriate. EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Required: • At least 3 years experience as a senior software engineer. • At least 7 years experience as a software engineer. • Experience working with offshore development teams. • Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and SQA/SCM (Software Configuration Management) tools. • Demonstrated ability to produce technical specifications with minimal supervision, and attend meetings answering technical questions regarding specifications. • Demonstrated experience with OOA/D/P, UML, design patterns, frameworks, and tools. • Java programming on Unix/Linux operating systems. • Demonstrated experience with JDBC • Strong experience with the relational databases. • Demonstrated expertise in SQL programming and stored procedure development. • Demonstrated experience in database design. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Demonstrated ability to work with other software engineers and teams to resolve problems. • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and require minimal supervision. • The ability to acquire domain knowledge quickly. Desired: • A good understanding of secure software development practices. • J2EE language programming on Unix/Linux operating systems. • C/C++ language programming on Unix/Linux operating systems. • Knowledge of Linux administration, configuration, and security. • Experience in security, including security of networks, servers, and VoIP systems. • Experience with Active Directory integration • Experience with LDAP technology, such as directory structures, LDIF, virtual directory, replication, querying and authentication • Experience with PAM, NSS, GSSAPI, and SASL • Experience with the MySQL database. • Fluency in XML. • Recent experience in VoIP telephony. • Experience in IP and networking protocols and architectures. • Experience with LAMP technologies. REQUIRED EDUCATION • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is required. • Masters Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
