The *Operations Lead – Backup*, *Information Technology Operations* is a
developing individual contributor that possesses business management /
process expertise in the area of IT Operations and Data Center Facilities
Management.  The Operations Lead, IT Operations can independently determine
and resolve most problems in the area of IT Operations and continues to
expand their knowledge of other process disciplines. The individual in this
position develops and designs complex business processes and continues to
maintain and renew their process expertise by retooling and planning for
emerging technologies.

   - The individual in this role must understand the overall goals and
   strategy of the customer as it relates to the creation, storage and secure
   dissemination of various Infrastructure components.
   - HCL provides a safe and secure environment to ensure the availability
   of data to customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The Operations Lead,
   IT Operations oversees the daily operations of the Technology Centers and
   the respective Field Office Data Rooms.
   - The individual in this role must manage the contractual expectations
   set for HCL in the Managed Services of the Infrastructure components
   residing within the Technology Centers and Field Offices Data Room.  In
   this role, the candidate will be held accountable to ensure standards are
   being achieved and that the tracks are driving Transformation within the
   domains of Infrastructure components that they are responsible.
   - This individual completes tasks and activities within established
   timeframes given limited supervision and managerial direction and also
   works to ensure compliance with established policies, practices and
   procedures.

*65% Duties:    *

*Support of the IT Operations Team*

   - Leverage past experiences to create "best practices" standards within
   customer organization.
   - Direct and track implementations according to established work plans
   and milestones.
   - Support the operational strategy and plan with input from the
   Architect and Engineering teams.
   - Ensure consistency of processes and procedures, technology standards,
   and quality approaches.
   - Ensure all operations-related problems are resolved in a timely manner
   to minimize user impact.
   - Manage root cause analysis and investigations on persistent or major
   hardware and application related problems and ensures resolution.
   - Possess and maintain a broad knowledge base to effectively identify,
   manage, and resolve issues.
   - Drive the building and fostering of teamwork across the organization
   demonstrating the agility of the IT Operations organization to exceed
   expectations.
   - Support all delivery expectations base on the implementation and use
   of the ITIL framework.
   - Support the deployment of enterprise upgrades for the Technology and
   Application teams.
   - Support the detailed transition of new technology to the IT Operations
   team so that support can be maintained with minimal interaction from the
   Architect and Engineering team members.
   - Leverage past experiences to create "best practices" standards within
   customer environment.

*35% Duties:*

*Overall Expectation and Responsibilities*

   - Directly work with a team of offshore individuals based on out of
   India.
   - Establish clear expectations and provide regular formal and informal
   feedback.
   - Identify solutions and opportunities to drive the progression of the
   defined customer Technology Roadmap
   - Review hardware and software packages to assure these components
   confirms to customer needs and can be supported
   - Ensure on-budget, within defined scope and quality for projects.
   - Maintain customer focus by identifying customer needs, requirements
   and expectations.
   - Communicate influentially and gain buy-in on plans and goals that need
   to be achieved.
   - Be a change agent - impact teams and influence peers on
   goals/objectives, policies and processes and also build support for
   initiatives.
   - Support the review of technology capacity.
   - Manage the identification of under-utilized or high-maintenance
   components.
   - Collaborate with Architect and Engineering in planning, researching,
   developing, recommending, and implementing new hardware, software, policies
   and procedures, and services to fulfill new technological advances.
   - Collaborate with other Operations Engineers, Architects, and Senior
   Management to define, design, and manage the architecture and infra
   - Understand the company's requirement as well as the vendor's business,
   strategies and industry issues.


HCL is looking for individuals with strong business sense and practical
expertise. Successful candidates should have:



*Experience:*

   - Eight or more years in Information Systems
   - Eight or more years in IT Infrastructure and Operations support
   - Five or more years in strategic thinking and leadership with strong
   abilities in relationship management and developing efficient and effective
   solutions to diverse and complex problems
   - Five or more years of integrating deployments with ITIL based
   processes
   - Two or more years of Project Management experience
   - Eight or more years of relevant experience required in the following
   technologies:
      - Experience on Installation, Configuration & Upgradation of
      Netbackup 7.x and above
      - Experience in troubleshooting Netbackup Core issues
      - Experience on Database backups like Oracle, MSSQL, Exchange is a
      must
      - Experience on VADP,VCB, NDMP and BCV backups
      - Experience in managing Data Domain and tape libraries
      - Understanding of DR concepts
      - Integration of Netbackup with reporting tools like DPA, Ops Centre
      - Through understanding of Netbackup Process Flow
   - Provide Trainings to the Team
   - Improve  service level targets

* Certification:*

   - ITIL v3 Certification (preferred)

* Skillsets:*

   - Ability to effectively interface with all departments within customer
   organization.
   - Ability to work independently, with strong organizational and
   flexibility skills in a team-oriented environment.
   - Competency in developing effective solutions to various business
   problems.

·         Technical understanding of and proven ability to implement and
maintain existing internetworking architectures and new computing
architectures.
