*Exchange Messaging EngineerBirmingham, AL6 month, maybe longer*

Allstates Consulting Services is seeking an Exchange Messaging Engineer for
our enterprise level client in Birmingham, Alabama.  This is a contract
assignment but does offer the potential for full-time if candidates are
interested.   This role will be responsible for the planning, design,
installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of MS Exchange 2010
and Lync 2010 technology platforms.

*Technical Skills Required:  *
College Degree preferred or AA/Technical degree and relevant experience.
Certifications are differentiator (plus):
*MCTS – Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 / 2010 – Configuration*
MCITP –- Enterprise Messaging Administrator
MCM – (Microsoft Certified Master)  Exchange Server 2007 / 2010
5+ yrs messaging experience -- from messaging concepts -> to design ->
tools and troubleshooting
MS Exchange 2010
Exchange 2010 and Lync 2010 architecture experience in a large IT
(enterprise) environment
Exchange 2010 Topology experience
RAID configurations; recommend optimal configuration and install Exchange
2010
Archive design & implementation background
Mail flow and routing, the multiple layers of the OSI model
MS Outlook 200x client troubleshooting background
OWA (Outlook Web Access) troubleshooting background
Knowledge of messaging protocols, routing, mail flow, mail encryption, mail
filtering (appliances such as IronMail)
Mobile messaging experience
Designing and implementing mobile messaging solutions (e.g. ActiveSync,
Windows Mobile 6.0, Blackberry Enterprise Servers)
Windows  2008 and Active Directory experience
Knowledge of DNS, MX records, certificates

Functional Aspects of role:
Accountability over enterprise Microsoft Exchange systems including but are
not limited to technical architecture, stability, and platforms
Monitor and maintain all aspects of Microsoft Windows Server and Microsoft
Exchange operations as they relate specifically to the administration and
support of the Exchange infrastructure. This includes, but is not limited
to, directory replication, fax gateways, Internet Mail Services and
Connectors
Responsible for the management of Corporate SMTP gateways, mail filters
(SPAM), monitoring of all Exchange Directory Replication, Site Connectors,
and Internet Mail Service Connectors
Designing and implementing mobile messaging solutions (Windows Mobile 6.0,
Blackberry Enterprise Servers)
Maintains and supports external access to messaging systems by providing
external accessible functionality to end users (OWA)
Designing and implementing E-Mail Archive solutions
Responsible for the assessment and optimization of the messaging systems,
through systems monitoring, statistics, and daily health checks
Coordinates service calls and schedules appointments with software vendor
and consultants to ensure satisfactory resolution of problems and
malfunctions
Maintains accurate and comprehensive documentation diagrams of the
messaging infrastructure and communications flow and routing
Maintains enterprise wide messaging rules and processes
Research, evaluate, and recommend new tools and technologies for converged
communications
Identify messaging trends and abnormalities and proactively take steps to
prevent performance impacts to network traffic and business function
Perform pro-active support functions and reporting to maintain the
integrity of the enterprise messaging equipment and infrastructure
Prepares and maintains a 3 year messaging plan, to facilitate new
requirements, technologies and growth
Provide on-going training and technical direction to other team members
pertaining to system optimization, installation, upgrades, configuration,
and troubleshooting
Develop Visio network diagrams of messaging infrastructure (including
routing, OWA, mail flow, WAN topology)
Provide SMTP support and configuration
Interact with vendors in the resolution of complex problems
Provide level three support in resolving Microsoft Exchange issues
Effectively communicate with customers, help desk support personnel and
senior technicians
Present new technology and high level resolutions to upper management
Participate in the evaluation of new technology solutions. Evaluate
equipment for performance and interoperability
Facilitate training sessions for Exchange Administrators on new technology
solutions, optimization, upgrades, trouble-shooting techniques, new
technology and administration tools
Work closely with Technical Support on Active Directory issues related to
Microsoft Exchange
Evaluate tools and management systems and provide management with
recommendations
Forecast and recommend infrastructure and system application improvements
Design and develop customized programs/forms/applications/monitoring tools
for Exchange Server and Outlook. (Visual Basic, Visual Basic for
Applications, Windows Interface Language, Active Server Pagers, Active X,
etc)
Analyze, determine, and document technical requirements
Assist with the preparation of estimates for new technology and maintenance
of existing technology
Communicate accurate and useful status reports to department/division
management and other management as needed on a timely basis
Anticipate issues and proactively resolve them
Prepare contingencies, scenarios, scenario plans and action items to
resolve issues
Identify and initiate continuous improvements
Instill commitment to quality, customer service, ownership, and teamwork
Monitor adherence of technical teams to defined processes
Build strong customer relationships. Promote internal/external customer
service among organization
Maintain awareness of new technological developments in industry and
processes - implement concepts appropriately
Research, plan and implement all messaging (Exchange) related projects in
accordance with and support of business needs goals and objectives
Provide third level Helpdesk support to end users, including technical
support regarding network operations problems and malfunctions
Ensure goals for teams are being met and manage group commitments
Assist team members to solve problems, make innovative improvements and
make decisions
Mentor and motivate junior members of technical support teams
Available to provide after hours and on-call support
Be willing and available to travel as required
