Location: Lake Forest, IL Position Type: 6+ Months Contract-to-Hire Job Description Our client is currently seeking a Network Engineer with 5 to 7 years of relevant experience to be responsible and accountable for the installation, configuration, operation and on-going maintenance of all hardware and software components, workstations, servers, and the network infrastructure. .In this capacity the incumbent is required to work closely with all departments within Information Technology to ensure smooth integration of all products into the network. This role is responsible for consulting with other departments to provide technical guidance and assistance in the resolution of hardware and system software problems. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provides 24-hour/7 support, including on-call after hours as required Primarily supports all infrastructure components for Network. Continually reviews, evaluates and recommends network hardware and software components Coordinates the installation, configuration, operation and on-going maintenance of all network hardware and software components. Implements and maintains a standardized operating system configuration for all servers and workstations. Responsible for maintaining optimal performance of servers, workstations and network Works with the necessary departments to coordinate integration of all systems, including, commercially-purchased and in-house developed applications, telephony hardware & software, database systems, etc. Responsible for timely back-up and recovery of identified systems and business data. Responsible for data retention, disaster recover, business continuity, data archiving rules and procedures. Responsible for security of network as it relates to both Internal and External customers. Ensures that compliance is maintained for ISO security certifications and assists in acquiring PCI certification and maintenance. Assist in Procurement of both Hardware and Software. Other duties as assigned by Management. Maintains current VMWare environment Position Requirements Minimum of five years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have utilized: Exchange, IIS, Active Directory, DNS, TCP/IP, Microsoft Office Suite, FTP, SUS, Back-up Exec, VMWare ESXi, HP Blade Center, Blackberry Enterprise Server, wireless networks, and security policies and procedures. Experience implementing windows updates for security patching. Experience in making recommendations for and administering anti-virus technologies Experience coordinating implementation and roll-out of new products Knowledge of Disaster Recover/Business Continuity policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to analyze technical problems, identify and prioritize resolutions based on business needs. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of management.
