Please send the resumes at [email protected] Job Title: Portal Application Administrator Location: University of Oklahoma Duration: 6 Months contract to hire This position will assist with ongoing efforts to document, maintain and modernize our administrative and academic systems. As a Portal Application Administrator, the incumbent will be responsible for coordinating activities as they relate to the University's Web Portal. He or she will be responsible for the applications architectural strategy, implementation, development, and support as well as the linkages to other applications utilized by the University of Oklahoma in its mission to provide the best educational experience for its students Essential Job Duties Configure, manage and monitor application servers, proxy servers, middleware, web servers, file systems and message queues in the application environments. Install all software needed in the application environments. Plan, coordinate and apply application patches, maintenance packs, and software upgrades on development, test, and production application systems. Create new application environments for on-going projects as well as refreshing existing environments when needed. Research and modify appropriate system configuration files for growth and performance. Automate the cleanup of log and trace files associated application servers, web servers, and process schedulers. Coordinate with team members and customers during routine system maintenance and configuration changes. Responsible for change control and the migration of projects, objects, program code and data from test to production in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. Works closely with internal team members, customers, and software vendors to research and troubleshoot system performance issues. Enable the trace feature to help developers determine the source of program failures. Help developers with system tuning. Provide on-going capacity analysis and planning to determine future projections of hardware requirements and/or configuration changes. Maintain system administration documentation and checklists. Participate in disaster recovery planning and the development of disaster recovery plans. Maintain a thorough knowledge of current technology trends and advancements through self -learning or scheduled classroom training. Participates in the IT mentoring program as both a mentor and mentoree. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Engineering, Computer Science or related studies and at least 24-36 months of significant experience administering and supporting Enterprise Applications. OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong analytical and problem solving skills are needed along with a demonstrated ability to think logically, define objectives clearly, gather and synthesize data, Must have the ability to exercise discretion and ingenuity to determine the proper course of action while following established standards. Must have a thorough understanding of object oriented development and how large production applications systems are maintained and administered. Excellent business, organizational, and communications skills. Required Certifications, Registrations, or Licenses: None Departmental Preferences Experience implementing SunGard Banner and Luminus Portal. Experience integrating a portal to course management systems such as Desire2Learn and WebCT. Knowledge of web content management systems. Innovative and self-motivated with resourcefulness and strong drive for results. Adapts to change easily. Works well in a collaborative, fast-paced, and challenging work environment. Experience coordinating work across multiple teams.
