Job Description: Project Manager w/PMP
Location: Richmond, VA
Duration: 6 months

In the 2012 session of the Virginia General Assembly, legislative changes
were passed that affect Virginia Retirement System (VRS) line of business.
Subsequently, VRS had implemented the key legislative changes including the
new Hybrid Retirement Plan were implemented as part of Pension Reform
Program phase-1. The remaining scope items will be implemented as part of
phase-2 of the Pension Reform Program.

The selected candidate will be leading small to medium size project(s) as
assigned by the Pension Reform Program Manager and will be responsible for
the outcomes of the assigned initiatives. The project lead will have day to
day responsibilities for management of the project team, work with business
users, subject matter experts, business analyst, developers, and testers to
complete the initiative(s) within the timeline while meeting the project
quality measures. The project lead will report to the Pension Reform
Program Manager. The duration of the contract is 6 months from the start
date.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:
Plan course of project, including milestones, resources needed in the form
of staff hours, and document in the project plan following established
project management methodology
Publish weekly status reports to the Program Manager
Maintain project schedule(s) up-to-date
Track course of project from meetings, conferring with developers, and
receiving reports
Ensure system requirements are documented, complete, accurate and approved
Report on progress of project, use of staff, and progress on milestones to
the Program Manager
Encourage and facilitate communication among project stakeholder and
capture meeting notes

Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Project Management Institutes' project management professional (PMP)
certification
Minimum eight (8) years of project management experience managing software
development projects, preferably in benefits/payroll/web based self-service
domains

Skills and knowledge:
Detail oriented, driven, and execution focused
Experience in using Microsoft Project & SharePoint experience
MS Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoin
Excellent understanding of software requirements management and testing
areas
Working knowledge of the system development life cycle
Minimum eight (8) years of project management experience managing software
development projects, preferably in benefits/payroll/web based self-servi
Required 8 Years
