*Linux Admin L1+Support with Perl Scripting* Location: Menlo Park, CA Duration: 6-12 months *Contract Rate: $43/hr* *Job Description:* Perform Level 2 application operational support to eCommerce IT and Business teams. Works closely with Application Development and Infrastructure Engineering teams on the design and implementation of application components. Build, implement and maintain tools for automating application administration, management and monitoring. Work closely with other Operations teams to identify and deliver utilities for enhancing the reliability and manageability of application components. Create technical troubleshooting and how-to documents for tier 1 support to use as self-help technical solutions Accountable for ensuring that problem identification and remediation efforts are appropriately documented, effectively prioritized and driven to resolution. Participate in the ongoing processes of investigating, analyzing and providing long term resolutions to technical issues. Participate in an agile development process .Work closely with Development and Quality Engineering teams Continuously review site and back-end processing for efficiency. Understand impacts to site operations with the introduction of new functionality. Document and/or assist in documenting application logic, process flows, standards and configurations. Modifies job settings according to systems documentation or analyst recommendations in order to bypass production problems and resolve application issues. Provide up-to-date and accurate documentation on the SCM environment and Process Automation tools. *Desired Skills and Experience:* Degree in Computer Science or a related technical or scientific field or related, equivalent experience. 4+ years Unix support and administration experience. A significant knowledge of UNIX, Linux and Windows NT commands and architecture. 3+ years working knowledge and experience with Unix/Perl Scripting Expert knowledge of Version Control tools: Perforce/CVS (other tools, a plus) Experience working with Control M and Unix scripting. Database knowledge such as MySQL is a plus. Familiar with Open Source tools, and comfortable with enhancing them. Knowledge of browser technologies (XML, XSLT, DHTML, Javascript, JSON, CSS, DOM) a plus Must understand error handling and exception processing for verification of job completion status, and be able to interact with all support groups in debugging and problem resolutions.
