enhance and performance tune a custom advertising platform, designed for extremely high volume traffic and written from the ground up in core Java. Title: Core Java Consultant Location: San Jose, CA Duration: Long Term (9-12 Months) Rate: Highly Competitive Primary Responsibilities: . Setting up performance testing environment using tools such Oracle/BEA JRockit, IBM PMAT, JProfiler, JProbe or others to run dedicated performance tests in live production environment . Create and run the test harnesses to establish a baseline for performance tuning in live production environment. . Profiling and analysis of application code to determine potential bottlenecks, including CPU and memory usage, heap sizes, garbage collector algorithms, thread stacks, etc. . Interact effectively with clients' senior staff engineers and architects to understand the infrastructure and architecture Requirements: . Very strong core Java skills; irresistible urge to create efficient code and optimize it even more (be prepared to write core java code during the interview) . 10+ years of large scale, full software lifecycle development experience including at least 3 years as a lead engineer, preferably at a high-volume web company . 7+ years using and developing in core Java . Results oriented with a track record of planning and delivering quality solutions on time . Experience working with other organizations such as Operations, Load & Performance, Security, Build/Release, QA and Training . Solid understanding of XML, HTTP/HTML, Servlets and SQL . Extensive experience developing frameworks and libraries where concurrency and careful resource management matter . Extensive experience in designing and implementing large server software with particular attention to security, scalability and high performance . Experience in distributed multi-tier systems and service oriented architecture . Professional user of W2K/XP, UNIX/Linux and eclipse JDT Very Strong Plus: . Open source development and/or interaction with Open Source projects/people. .
