*Overview:*

MY client firm that is seeking an experienced Business Objects
Administrator.



*Responsibilities:*

·  Assist the Technical Lead in monitoring system performance and
availability

·  Fine tune the system (BI & Weblogic) for optimum performance eg: sizing
and dedicating WEBI services to centers running complex reports

·  Participate in design, installation, and configuration of the system for
new implementations, upgrades and maintenance

·  Install and upgrade BI servers on *UNIX platform* with new version of
Business Objects software and maintaining patch levels on all environments

·  Assist the Technical Lead in resolution of system problems, help
determine a course of action, and then implement the approved approach

·  Attend ERIC tickets assigned by the Technical Lead in the Business
Objects queue; troubleshoot (if any) issues with reports (technical support
to users)

·  Promote management of reports/universes from one environment to another
(e.g., Dev > Test > Pre-Prod > Prod)

·  Responsible for the overall health of the system; be able to
troubleshoot and resolve issues with all BO services; assist with problem
management activities such as root cause analysis.

·  Work with DBAs to monitor and troubleshoot performance issues. i.e query
run time etc.; Review with PM weekly query run time report from DBAs

·  Ensure all schedules are running successfully and set up alerts to be
notified when schedules fail

·  Work with the UNIX administrator to setup and maintain BI services
startup scripts on all environments

·  Assist the Technical Lead in setting up and maintaining security of the
system for all groups, users and folders for each center

·  Work with the Technical Lead to define, implement, and monitor
operational measures for improving BI program quality, throughput, and
solution delivery and architecture/infrastructure effectiveness

·  Provide PM with weekly audit reports for all BI users’ logins,
permission changes and usage report by center

·  Test the availability of all universe connections to respective
databases especially after patches and upgrades

·  Assist the Technical Lead in meeting with BI users to understand how
they are using Business Objects and discuss performance and support issues

·  Configure universe connections, adding, maintaining, and deleting user
accounts

·  Assist the Technical Lead in validation of hardware setup, impact
analysis, performing application installation, configuration and security;
Conduct work load analysis on production environment

·  Conduct regular BI repository maintenance, to include weekly restart of
production services and on other environments as necessary.



*Qualifications:*

·  *Minimum three years’ experience installing Business Objects on UNIX
platform *

·  Experience with the entire Business Objects (BO) XI 3.1 or later
Application Suite

·  Experience with Business Objects XI 3.1 or later  in a Data Mart or Data
Warehouse environment

·  Experience managing and sizing Business Object application servers,
delivering and supporting quality, high-performance business systems

·  Experience working with end users to design universes that meet the
needs of the business and creates quality and consistency of reporting
across multiple areas

·  Experience developing complex Web-Intelligence reports in BO XI 3.1 or
later using multiple data-providers and complex formatting. Reports require
creating/merging multiple report objects and data providers and employing
nested sections, breaks, filters, prompts, variables, contexts, etc.

·  Working knowledge of Windows and UNIX operating systems

·  Excellent troubleshooting and good customer service skills

·  Ability to comprehend complex technical and logical concepts and adapt
quickly to changes

·  Ability to maintain own workflow and meet deadlines to best meet
departmental and organizational goals

·  Ability to respond to frequent demands of multiple internal customers

·  Strong communication and interpersonal skills

·  Analytical, problem solving and quantitative skills.



*Education/Experience:*

·  Bachelors degree in Information Systems or related field

·  2-5 years relevant experience with the product

·  SAP Business Objects Certification (desirable).
