Please send the resumes at [email protected] Job Title: PL/SQL Developer Location: Richmond, VA Duration: 12 Months In person interview VDOT seeks an Oracle PL/SQL Developer to support the Pavement Management System and the Pavement Maintenance Scheduling System. This individual will plan, develop, test, and document computer programs, applying knowledge of programming techniques. VDOT uses a Pavement Management System (PMS) and a Pavement Maintenance Scheduling System (PMSS) to guide one of VDOT’s most significant investment areas; the analysis and management of nearly 126,000 lane miles of VDOT-maintained roads and highways. These systems support the collection and analysis of current pavement data and provide an integrated method for annually scheduling the required maintenance work. The scheduling of pavement improvements in the PMSS depends on a number of technology solutions which have yet to be developed and implemented to better integrate PMS and PMSS. These systems rely on a heavily normalized set of Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases, making analysis and reporting of data by the end user difficult. In addition, the PMS application relies on SQL to perform many of its functions and calculations. As the needs of the PMS Users change, modification of this SQL code must take place to accommodate these needs. The PMS application also depends on the import of data from other internal and external systems. Import routines frequently need to be developed or modified to accommodate new or changing data import requirements, and to provide the functionality necessary to insure that imported data meets the user’s quality assurance requirements. VDOT has need of a person who can develop technology solutions to better meet the Maintenance Division business needs and improve integration of PMS with PMSS. Note: As is often required in support of 24 X 7 Production applications, on-site participation in implementation activities outside normal working hours is to be expected. Following skills are expected for Oracle PL/SQL Developer A minimum of 2 years experience with Oracle Relational Database 10g, and 11g, including development of tables, indexes, views, materialized views, synonyms, procedures and database triggers. Knowledge of Oracle spatial data procedures and concepts is preferred. Strong PL/SQL skills. Ability to write efficient, complex update or selection queries against very large data sets using SQL Developer and TOAD and any other tools Ability to develop server-side PL/SQL, Procedure, Functions and Triggers using Oracle new features for complex architecture Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or later, SSIS, and T-SQL. Familiarity with JDBC connectivity concepts Familiarity with Java and the ability to develop and maintain small Java (or Groovy) procedures. Ability to model, analyze and manage large volumes of data Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Access Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint Ability to quickly learn new business and technical concepts in a fast paced service focused environment Demonstrated planning and organizational skills and Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to understand Java subprograms and client-side procedural code that use SQL statements Ability to identifying the SQL bottlenecks and tune them for improved performance. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
